I'll try that. I posted here since I had trouble registering to the official forums. This link just happened to pop up in Google search.

I seen and recognize that, thanks.

My anxiousness is in regards to the Track0 expected feature as well as driver blocking requested.

Unless i missed it i don't find either in version. 1.30.457 which is the very last released so far.

Well if reduced SSD life resulting from SD use is of concern to you (fwiw I don't think it should be), then increasing your RAM is not very expensive!

That is correct, neither enhancement has yet been implemented. But (unless I'm mistaken) Tony told Patrick that he is now developing Wendi's Track0 Virtualization (Shadow Mode) suggestion, so we may see that by year-end. The Drop Rights with Prevent Driver Execution option (my suggestion) is more complicated so we will have to be much more patient awaiting that one!

Hi Shadow :) You are correct, Tony told me that he would implement Track 0 Virtualisation in next release.
    but
I have not heard anything from Tony for a while or had replies to emails
Translations (res.ini) that I have uploaded on behalf of my members have not been acknowledged nor have they been put on Tony's download page. The maker of the translation has not had a reply on his own account. Also recent email queries have not been answered.
I do though, see Chinese ips reading the forum pages.

    Hi Shirayuki
Sorry to hear that you are having a problem registering. Let me know what problem you were having and I'll try to help or drop me a private message with a working email address and username of your choice and I'll register you. I believe that some people trying to register that don't write/read English are having difficulty with the anti spam measures used on the forum. The Official Shadow Defender Forum does have a working email address for this type of problem.

It seems to me that Tony has some serious non-SD issues confronting him which he cannot or will not discuss. So unless we can bring ourselves to recognize that reality the result will be total frustration. I, for one, have resigned myself to accept and use SD 'on those terms'.

    Regards,
    TS

Curious question...lets just say your hdd isn't as healthy as it once was, will SD still function like it should, or does it depend on the health of your hdd?

It seems obvious to me that SD depends on the health of the disk.

No more or less than Windows and just about every Windows app! HDDs are very inexpensive now, so I'm wondering why Overkill would continue to operate with a defective HDD?

It's just a hypothetical question...so basically SD or anything similar is as good as the disk? if the disk starts having minor or closer to major issues then SD won't be as secure and will fail? This may seem to be a dumb question, I just wasn't sure how SD works in regards to disk health.

If you have an 'unhealthy' HDD I would say that Windows itself is more vulnerable to failures than SD, but if I knew that my HDD had defective sectors or other 'hard issues' I sure would replace it ASAP.

Hmmm, guys, I think I do not fully understand your comments. o_O

First of all: How do you define "healthy / unhealthy HDD"?
Concluding from the last postings it seems that you mean some sort of defective / bad sectors. But there are different types of defective sectors.

You think they may have influence on the way that SD works?

    More specifically about my case:

My hard disk already quite a long time (2 years or so) has often "Current Pending Sectors" (shown by "Crystal Disk Info"). They cause no problem (at least I would not relate them with any problems). The only issue: I cannot create an image when such sectors exist. The fine thing: Every time they appear I can eliminate them easily with the software "HDD Regenerator" (and afterwards I am able again to create a new image).

Would you think that such "Current Pending Sectors" can have negative effects on the reliability of Shadow Defender?

Concerning the exchange of the HDD:
Fortunately I already have a spare HDD ready since quite a long time. But I try to avoid its installation (as long as possible) as this will not be so easy in case of my All-in-one PC, I think. :doubt:

@ Peter 123, you can also try DiskFresh, from Puran Software; it is an excellent tool to avoid to have issues like you're taking.

Well done, I don't think that you will regret it.
I use my Shadow Defender every day. I find it very useful for editing video and music in Shadow Mode because I can play around a lot and do things that I wouldn't dare do normally knowing that if everything goes wrong I can just reboot and nothing is destroyed....and if I manage to get a good edit I can "commit" and keep it.
The only thing to remember..is that it is very easy to forget that you are in Shadow Mode and download something and inadvertantly reboot without commiting it.

It's nice that with Shadow Mode you can even test programs which require to load drivers or start services, like Anti-Virus solutions.

Yes it is - so long as the program you would like to test doesn't require a restart!
