Also his modesty. A true Wilders giant. Hoping he gets well soon.

The other side of the coin what about "The Mozart" I liked his brashness.

I'd like to try this program again, but am waiting for word that they have fixed their false positive issues. I've had to much trouble with them in the past.

    ??

all anti-virus programs I've ever used have given me more false positives than real positives. same with Q360, but not more so and probably less so than other AV's.

I'm very disappointed in this new version for a few reasons. As some may know there always was a lag between system start and successful malware detection (normally the amount of time it took for an update to complete). With this new version that time lag has been extended to an unacceptable level.

Second- I've noticed a system slowdown when I ran some samplesets. This is the first time that and sluggishness was detected on my system significant enough to be annoying. But even worse it seemed to slow the responsiveness of Comodo Firewall- which I've been paring with it- to react to threats.

Third- A few months ago I wrote a test trojan that changes Windows Logon passwords. In discussion with Qihoo it was implied that the program would be able to recognize and stop any changes via Proactive defense (detecting via definitions is pointless as it can be morphed in a few seconds). Sadly Q360 is still susceptible.

In conclusion, the old blues song "Fool No More" keeps popping up in my head. Wonder what that means...

As lite as i find Qihoo 360 on windows 8 i can't understand why they don't or won't include User-Defined settings in ProActive Defense which would help users immensely to directly pinch off various entry points that as-is just covers their own predetermined paths and that leaves too much unprotected IMHO.

If this AV had the user-defined HIPS as is in even old Comodo FW 5.12, their Proactive Defense would compliment the AV part the way you might expect, including locally written Trojans.

That is supposed to be the whole concept behind integrating a HIPS into any AV as i see it. Open up the curtains and let the users define Proactive Defense matters.

I noticed this limitation very early on and even reported it in this same Topic.

Their goal was to make a product ready made for the masses, precluding the integration of Geek-Only settings. But keeping in mind that formerly it could be paired with great result with Comodo Firewall, this wasn't much of an issue.

However now (don't know exactly what they did or why), paring Q with CF is not an option.

i'm still using v4.3 (64-bit) with ZoneAlarm Firewall and it's been running smoothly (except for the minor VPN conflict I mentioned earlier). However today it offered to update the program to v4.5 so I clicked OK, but after the download was 90% complete it stalled and I couldn't even exit the 'downloading update' window -- had to reboot. Now when I click the update button it only says that program and virus database are up to date. I went on Qihu's website and tried to download the latest 64-bit version manually (~200 MB) but that's not working either -- it downloaded half a megabyte super slowly and then download speed dropped to 0. What's going on? (edit: it briefly picked up while I was typing this post and downloaded 50 MB but now it's stalled again).

Also should I even update Qihu given all the complaints about using it with Comodo FW? I'm using ZoneAlarm, but if the new version conflicts with Comodo then is it any safer to pair with ZA? Can I just run the latest installer to update the older version or would I need to uninstall/reinstall?

This one seemed to have so much potential for awhile..

Maybe they will get it together in the future.

    Crap.

After reading these threads now i know why i been having so much trouble after installing Comodo FW 5.12 just to get my PC to show more then just a.blank screen at startup.

Darn it. The potential was right there and so close to being ideal.

    update:

I updated Qihu from v4.3 to v4.5 by running the latest installer over the previous version (it wouldn't auto-update), and everything went fine. ZoneAlarm seems to be fine with the new version (although too early to say). One minor issue through, I had to run the update database option multiple times before Q360 finally updated its malware signatures - maybe it has problems connecting to Qihu's servers...

Earlier problem with trying to install Comodo 5.12 onto a windows 8 machine with Qihoo 360 IS is since fully resolved.

There was a slight matter of fine tuning Comodo's drivers to delay start instead of automatic at boot time.

Turns out it had nothing of consequence to do or originated with Qihoo 360.

    And again all is well.

update: upgrading from v4.3 to v4.5 seems to have fixed this previous issue for me and now i have network protection enabled again. also, i've been running the new version with ZoneAlarm firewall for a few days now with no issues, so it seems all is good.

I take it this AV won't start in a non-administrator account? I could get it to start by right clicking the desktop icon to run as an administrator, but that's not on for a proper AV.

I had this problem. Logging into a LUA and fast user switching between it and an admin account caused problems. Had to uninstall.

Upon starting-up my XP (P4) PC, 360IS causes svchost to consume 99% of the CPU for a couple of minutes while it updates! :thumbd:

Hi Cruise, are you sure it's not related to this: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=353289

A problem with svchost.exe using 99% CPU while the OS checks for Win updates.

I never experienced the problem until 2-days ago when I first installed 360IS. Since then it has occurred every time that I bootup!

Probably every program update is resetting the settings.

I see, I thought I could mention it anyway seeing that you use XP and that a couple of WU for XP were released 2 days ago :)

Edit: for a test you could completely disable the Windows update in the control panel so that the OS won't check for updates at bootup, if there's no improvement then you can re-enabled them again.

Disable them, restart, and when the desktop shows wait a couple minutes to see if svchost.exe starts to misbehave again. That's what I would have done to rule this out as the culprit.

You know I first blamed ESET for this when it started to happen for me wich of course was totally wrong since the software had nothing to do with it.
