When I try to run Ccleaner on my computer with a setting of Secure File Deletion , HitmanPro.Alert identifies it as a virus and prevents it from operating. (No problems, though, - or so it seems - with Ccleaner set to perform Regular file deletion).

I found the problem and included a fix in build 2.5.1 which will be out on Monday (or Tuesday).

I will try to reproduce the issue and try to include a fix in version 2.5.1. Depends on how easy we can solve this. Thanks for report :thumb:

Edit: A fix is in the works. See this post.

Does 2.5.0 have to be uninstalled before installing 2.5.1?

No but a reboot will be needed to effect the update (the hmpalert.dll files are in use).

I too can confirm this incompatibility between Alert 2.5.0 and Norton Internet Security (2014) V 21.1.0.18. As soon as I uninstalled Alert and rebooted NIS was opening again. Also using Win 7 x64.

Erik, I have the same false message from HMPAlert as rhabdomantist,
    But I don't use FDM.
I will wait for and test 2.5.1

    HitmanPro.Alert 2.5.1 Build 56 BETA

Last week we've released the first BETA of Alert 2.5 with the new CryptoGuard feature protecting documents, images and other personal files files against crypto ransomware like CryptoLocker and Dorifel (aka XDocCrypt).

Today we release a new BETA containing improvements and various fixes.

    Changelog
    • IMPROVED: Fine-tuned CryptoGuard algorithm.
    • IMPROVED: Switching CryptoGuard off under Settings now works immediately, no reboot required.
    • IMPROVED: Support for processes running in an AppContainer.
    • IMPROVED: Installation and upgrade procedure.
    • FIXED: Application startup performance. On some systems the Alert Broker Service failed to process new completion port I/O requests causing a slowdown during application startup.
    • FIXED: False positive Intruder alert when Free Download Manager or Bing Toolbar was installed.
    • FIXED: Media Player Classic caused high CPU load in the Alert Broker Service.
    • FIXED: CCleaner set to Secure Delete caused CryptoGuard alert.
    • FIXED: ACDSee 6 (or newer) caused CryptoGuard alert.
    • FIXED: On some systems the installer crashed when NVIDIA D3D shim DLLs are installed.
    • FIXED: On some systems the installer failed with Error 32.
    • FIXED: Memory leak in Alert Broker Service.

Known issues in Alert 2.5.1 (or older)
    • ISSUE: Alert is currently not yet compatible with Norton 360 and Norton Internet Security on 64-bit Windows versions. We've already identified the cause and are working on a solution.

    Download
    http://dl.surfright.nl/hmpalert25.exe

    Installation
You do not need to uninstall Alert 2.0 or 2.5.0. This version will prompt to upgrade the existing install during installation. Existing users are not yet automatically updated. You need to manually install this version.

I want to thank many of you who reported issues. You have actively contributed to this new release :thumb: :thumb:
Please let me know how this version runs on your computer.

Note: This version is still labeled BETA. This means you should not yet run this version in a production environment.

I tried to end the Process of HPA 2.5 before installing 2.5.1 but it restarted itself. So i just installed 2.5.1 anyway and will see what happens.

No need for that. Just install 2.5.1 over 2.5 and after a reboot 2.5.1 is installed.
    Running just fine here :thumb:

Will 2.5 auto update further down the road?

    Clean install (directly to 2.5.1)
Now Norton Crashed completly and, after that, I can't open Control Panel > Uninstall Program.
    Must restart and than uninstall.

    Going back to 2.5.0

See Known Issues in my post above.

I will send you a PM with a link to a version we are working on for Norton compatibility.

Yesterday, I installed latest Alert beta on my company PC.
Today, I could not connect to Microsoft Exchange and Outlook asked me for my account password.
Even with correct password I could not get it to work.

Uninstalled Alert and everything is back to normal.
