First (in no particular order) you have Google and Yahoo changing the functionality and UIs of there web mails for no apparent reason other than just "change" periodically. The changes always seem to make them worse too, although I do think MS probably improved their client since hotmail was so bad. Don't use it but need the account for SkyDrive. To add insult to injury though, was the dropping of iGoogle. Miss my little configuration bad as I don't use W7's gadgets as suggested for security reasons.

Yes, I miss my iGoogle page. I had it for five years & had customised it over a period of time. I had an astronomical theme which showed the planet associated with each day of the week.

As for Yahoo! ... they have ruined my My Yahoo! page on my free account & the mail freezes on my laptop for several seconds when I first open the page!

Fortunately my paid Yahoo! Mail account (which is coupled with my service provider) has survived so far. o_O

Yes...I miss my iGoogle, I too had it for several years. I've been using igHome as a replacement. It's not awful, but the Gmail plugin is no where near as good as iGoogles was...

Tried it for a while, but blank tabs and bookmarks are enough for me.

Thank you as I wasn't aware of this. Not great but a start anyway, plus I did save my iGoogle files.

I made an igHome page and imported my iGoogle .xml file, but not a hell of a lot showed up afterwards.

I made a few pages at some of these iGoogle alternatives to see how they would turn out and the best one (a matter of taste, of course) in my opinion is netvibes.com. They have a good choice of widgets and feeds. They also have a good international selection, which may not be important to everybody.

You're welcome. I have to say that the site has improved a bit with time. I've actually been using it about 6 months now, wanted to get used to not having iGoogle. When I first signed up, there were around 12,000 users. Now there are over 84,000. They show the subscriber number up top, next to your email address. The site got really slow a couple of weeks ago, their servers got a bit overloaded as the user number went up. They added some new servers, and it's been working pretty well since that point. I tried a couple of the other start page sites, but this one suits my taste the best.

This. Tried to get into iGoogle. Set it all up. Customized it. When it was all said and done, I like the browser to fly so a blank page and a row of bookmarks toolbar bookmarks was enough to satisfy me.

Paps, igHome has been nothing short of perfect for me as it renders and updates all of the feeds I had enabled in iGoogle exactly the same. What could/would I achieve with your app? Thank you for sharing!

I had no idea that iGoogle had finished. However, it doesn't matter to me as I don't have a home page. Whenever I launch Sleipnir it always automatically restores every single tab I had open last time I used it, so I'm always starting my browser with anywhere from 20 to 50 tabs open (I usually have around 50 tabs open), and never with a single tab with the home page open.

Yes , I miss it and had no idea there were alternatives. Thanks to the OP for bringing this up.

Now I have some investigating to do.

No. I don't quite like setting homepage(s). Most of the time I browse Incognito/Private mode and start with blank tab. Sometimes if I want to keep a session, I bookmark certain tabs and then re-open them when needed.
