I don't believe NOD scans outgoing mail, just incoming.

NOD32 scans both incoming and outgoing email in Outlook 200x.
I know, because I have sent myself email, and there is a NOD notification message appended twice -- once when the email is sent, and once when the email is received.

I would uninstall NOD before installing the beta to avoid any potential problems.

The home version is in beta right now. Unless someone says otherwise, I don't believe you can get Emon in this version yet.

The beta is not released software so there could be problems. That said, I've had none on my machine.

Upon further experimentation, I have discovered that NOD32 only places a notification on INCOMING mail. I was wrong, and misunderstood the IMON configuration settings. I see now that when IMON asks the user if he wants to append a notification message to ALL email, it actually means "all INCOMING email, virus-laden or not".

From this, I must assume that NOD32 does not scan outgoing email.

Not yet anyway. Maybe they will add it if people want it.

Outgoing email is not scanned by Nod32 this version or the Beta.

    Cheers :D

Marcos said in one of the other threads about email that EMON will start scanning outgoing mail in awhile, and AMON after that. He didn't give a time period and for the life of me I can't find it now( it's getting late here in Texas and I am quite tired, i will try to find it tommorrow or if some else does they can post the link. I think it was today in a thread on email, possibly in the beta forum. good nite all.

Update, well i woke up this morning and tried finding this mystery post again and I can't, Maybe it was just a dream.

Please say me one reason why Nod should scan outgoing emails?

If it can't catch virus in incoming mails then why it should it catch in outgoing?

I get MANY infected mails with antivirus signatures "outgoing mail is clean, av version xx.yy.zz" (this is not worm's message, that mails WAS scanned by that antiviruses)...

Im sure your aware that a virus' often mails itself out to people in your address book right?
Or could attach itself to a message your sending?

I would hate for my friends and family to get a virus from me!!.

But thats just my opinion. :p

If AMON scans all files created on the HD anyway, what's the advantage of IMON detecting them before they're written to the HD? Does it really make you any safer? Does IMON ever detect stuff that AMON misses?

At the moment I use IMAP for my email so I'm guessing AMON is my only line of defence. If NOD32 is capable of detecting a virus it will still be stopped won't it?

I guess I'm just wondering what the point of IMON is o_O

    Thanks.
