Installed free version on my old win XP laptop. Works with no issues. Nice programme. Does exactly what firewall should do: block-allow other programmes to make inbound or outbound connections. Plain, simple and effective. Like it.

 

ok, XP is outdated next year (EOL). so - if you like it you should spend some bucks for the pro after upgrading on win7/8, worth any cent - and it has extended protection with its rich list of zones and handmade zones/rules.

 

Well, I don't feel I need more than free version. Zones are cool thing but I simply don't find them neccessary in my IT environment. And I like to keep my settings simplest possible. I have windows 7 already, but intend to keep windows XP for long time after April 2014. It is blazing fast on my old notebooks, which can run win 7, too, but I have some engineering software certified to run just on win xp. For brand new machines is win 7 (8.1) way to go, no doubt.
