Only 300k+ out of that 30 million have received the new web filtering to date. The point Techfox was making is that they're possibly doing it by testing in batches, and if all goes well with one batch, they'll probably ratchet the number up for the next lot of client updates. It'll be some time before nearly all 30m+ users are on it. In the meantime, those still on the 2013 filtering remain protected. :)

Yes exactly. We're taking it slowly here because it's a different approach and does create some user confusion (especially with the browser addon prompts). We'll be ramping it up faster as time goes on, but we're being cautious to avoid customer complaints.

Ireland get it first this time?

I believe they're doing batches of keycodes, largely randomly selected.

Well it's not Canada Techfox? :doubt: But we might as well have a pint or two of Guinness while we wait. :D

IIRC, Ireland used to receive all agent updates first. Or somewhere in that general region.

Well my luck is always bad. Afraid luck's gonna dump me on this one too. Probably gonna be the last one to receive.:'(

    Just got it.
The first thing I know is the 'add-on' notification followed by another notification by IE9 saying that WSA filter was slowing down page load etc by 1.4 sec.

That's the IE Startup load, not page load that IE reports. Considering that IE already takes about 12-24 seconds on most systems to start up, I don't think delaying it the first time by 1.4 is all that bad.

wish there was a way to force the update the one feature im really missing right now lol.

Yeah IE always says that to every extension or add-on I try to use. Some add-ons delays the startup by more than the mentioned delay by WSA add-on. Those include my favorite ones like LastPass.

Really wow, on my 9yr old XP SP3 system IE8 takes around 5 sec to start up.

IE 10 loads in 2 sec in my system. No add-ons of course.

I was thinking last night..why isn't this a standard .exe file
uploaded somewhere..ie web site or here for all to load?
    makes no sense to me.

It will come through as an update but we need to enable it on the backend for individual licenses to be supported within our infrastructure - it isn't just a local change as most of the logic is held within the cloud.

    Hi G,

That's not the reason it's completely New Tech and uses BrightCloud for there determinations of Good or Bad Websites another company Webroot acquired just before Prevx and they want to keep and eye on it's progression hence being rolled out slowly I have noticed they changed the the version of the New Web Shield Filter a few times already so they could be seeing issues and correcting it as it's rolled to even more users.

    Daniel ;)

Also still waiting for the update, any clarification please on what this new web filter actually adds. Is it just adding in tickmarks for searches and blocking known bad sites (I.E. Brightcloud?) or does it also provide new/improved technology for scanning all web pages as they load etc. Thanks

I've got 4 folders in WRData>PKG which all arrived on 9th October, namely Chrome, Firefox, VistaX64 and VistaX86, and at that time IE11 prompted, and successfully installed the extension.
But there is no sign of the extension showing up in Pale Moon 24.1.
I was wondering if I have the appropriate file can I drag&drop manually install into PM browser a la pegas' recommendation for Opera workaround? Thanks :)

    Hi Dermot

I have the same problem as you except that whilst IE10 works fine with the new Threat Shield it is FF25 that does not seem to be able to show the add-ons.

I am currently trying to track down the cause of this with Webroot Support and will post back if we get a resolution...but at present the only thing I can suggest is a complete uninstall/clean reinstall of Pale Moon, as an attempted drag 'n drop in FF has not worked a la Chrome.

    Regards

    Hi Balders :)
That's great...thanks for all that info, and my feeling is that it's best to wait and all will eventually materialise and be fine, which is always the way with WSA :thumb:
I must admit to being not a little confused about this (like others :D) and couldn't quite be sure if I could 'force' it.

    Thanks,
    Dermot
