Hi, I was wondering if someone could explain what exactly the "Access Permissions" checkbox does? There doesn't seem to be much in the way of information in the manual or the built-in help. Ideally I would like to deny access to a folder on an NTFS drive for a specific user on the Mac. I can do this on Windows and I thought this option may give me similar functionality on OSX but I can't see how to specify users and/or groups on the Mac side so I am confused as to what exactly this option is doing. Hi distantstorm, All permissions created by Windows will be ignored anyway. "Access permissions" feature allows you to store and modify POSIX permissions on NTFS volume. You can can set any permissions to file/folder with "chmod" utility via Terminal. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chmod
Hi Mephist, Thank you! I was thinking that the option was somehow for translating the NTFS permissions for use under OSX. I have dug up my copy of Batchmod and I've changed the POSIX permissions on the relevant folders to emulate the denials I have under Windows. It works perfectly. Thank you so much for replying.
