Pretty normal. Office 2013 seems to have to repair itself on every machine I have touched.

I am finding that not only do they reset your power management settings on an upgrade, they reset your network and media streaming settings as well. Had to set it up to connect the PS3 all over again. :(

Since I don't have time to re-tweaking the settings again, for the time being I'll stick with 8.0. :isay:

Wound up doing an upgrade install with my existing windows 8 disc and then redownloaded all the windows updates. After that I ran the 8.1 pro upgrade and it worked flawlessly. Something must have been corrupt, not just for myself, but the many others who had the same problem. As for the software in my sig,i always uninstall all security software before trying an os upgrade.

That makes no sense to me ( turn off / switch on repeatedly).

Anyway, with the following workaround =
    the sleep mode bug solved.

It says "Boxed", wonder it is full retail or upgrade retail box?

    thank you.
i downloaded from the Store but this might come in handy down the road...

i will try installing directly from the ISO later using my Win 8 serial/product key to see if it works.

    Hi Moontan,

Yes, I too downloaded from Store on 4 computers and this would come in handy in future as you have said.

When I tried to download the Windows 8.1 with Windows 8 serial, it gave me an invalid key error. I followed the instructions for download as given by TOMxEU above and was able to download. Would love to know your results.

Is the ISO a full version or just an upgrade?

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

it looks like the full version.

i will burn the ISO to a USB key and install it.
i will know for sure then.

give me an hour or so...

    it did not work.
during install, it would not accept my Windows 8 serial/product key.

i don't know if it is because my Windows 8 key is an upgrade from XP/7 and not a full version Product Key...

    oh well, no big deal.

i would buy a full version key for 8.1 if there was a discount from Windows 8 Upgrade.

from what i've gathered i'd have to buy a Product Key at full price. :thumbd:

i found ways i could 'hack' the product keys and such but as a paying customer i find that idea ridiculous.

    Hi Moontan,

I didn't think it would accept the Windows 8 key for install as it didn't allow for download. I might later try to put a pirated key to install it in VM to see if it is full version or not. Of course, the pirated key will not activate but it will allow to install.

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

    Hi Moontan,

Is the download for x64, since I was downloading from x64 computer?

Or, it is both, meaning x64 and x86?

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

i gather the installer from the links you provided above chose the correct version for your machine.

    i'm not sure though.
it's 3.05 GB if that can help...

    Hi Moontan,

I installed it in VM. It is x64 and full version. The reason it being x64 is because I started the installer from a x64 machine.

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

Have you installed it using Windows 8.1 Preview key? NTTX3-RV7VB-T7X7F-WQYYY-9Y92F ?
