NOD32 - is it still going down the pan?

Have they moved forums to their server to stop critical postings?

i didn't know that. independent av tests still rate them topnotch afaik.

If you mean by people who haven't used it at all or haven't used it for a long time and are currently running another solution and are taking pot shots because they have an ax to grind? Perhaps.

 

I would say ESET is an excellent program.

 

going down? imo its one of the best there is. regardless of tests imo it has one of the best real world showings of any av i use. i have a "top three" and eset has been in there since 2.0 days.

 

Version 7 is very smooth, and I'm beginning to think it's one of the best security solutions out there. On my three computers, I have NOD32 on one of them, Smart Security on another, and Norton antivirus on the third. I've updated the two computers using ESET to version 7, and both feel really nice. I believe when my Norton subscription runs out I'll switch over to ESET on that computer as well.

I don't know, I've used most of the major and not so major security solutions over the years, and ESET strikes me as the best overall. Just real happy with it.

I totally agree. I have used Eset for years, and it has never let me down. I have trialled many other AV's but none work as well as ESS. Its still top notch in my book. I am no fanboy either, I just use it because it works and its totally reliable.

 

Occasionally I'm testing different AVs but I keep coming back to ESET. For me it's the best AV right now.

Good Morning! After much experimentation...ESET S.S.7...will officially be my chosen A/V. As I had mentioned in a previous thread I'm impressed with it's Rock Solid Engineering...and lack of bloat...and lack of adding borderline features. Version 7 follows in it's execution and simplicity of operation. As you all know I've experimented with a few competitors products this past year...and ESET along with WSA Security Plus...are the two I keep coming back to! Bravo...Eset! Sincerely...Securon

 

I'm gonna get KILLED for saying this, but when test results contradict the user feedback, go for the latter. It just doesn't make sense that all that research of theirs supposedly comes to nothing either.

Inside Out, I think that at least in part, the fact that consumers sometimes rely on their experience rather than structured product tests means that in the real world, a few percentage points difference in a test makes little difference to protection. I think very few users are ever going to encounter any of the malware that is used in tests. Further, security software is only a part of a user's protection package. Another big part is a user's knowledge and ability to practice safe computing.

When you put together perceived risk, perceived protection from chosen software, and a user's desire to have software that actually works and doesn't mess up their computer, I think it is entirely reasonable that people will exhibit mathematically irrational behavior and select security software that tests out one or two percentage points below the top scorers.

So, I don't think you deserve to get killed for your comment.

As hamlet said, difference of few percentage points is not important to me. Till now bugs in AVs made more problems to me than malware did.

I think it's one of that antivirus which does not get in your way or keep asking you what to do. And is not paranoid like other (The most important thing to me) like norton and Avira. But that's a personal thing !!

And as far as i know it's really hard for an AV to impress Securon. If he's impressed, it must be really good

 

Eset has very low impact on system performance, good detection and almost zero false positives.

It is simple that good and stable ...


In tests you see antivirus solutions with almost 100 % "protection" and yet you still have users infected

My name is Sidney and i use Eset Nod32 v4 and I have problem with the Bases 's remote actualization. I cannot accomplish that my domain clients updating their bases from my http server.

When i try to update eset definitions manually i receive a pop up saying that my username and password is invalid even though the product is fully activated.

Any reason for this?
