use to be I had 4 in my stable. But the honest truth is there are so many good products of late, it is insane trying to keep up with them. It really doesnt matter what you choose because they have all gotten very close in the gap of detection and protection.

 

PrevX tech is present in WSA. It's even better than PrevX. It's very strong as a standalone product. But as keeping the main course of PrevX, WSA is compatible with most other AVs. WSA is not supplementary but compatible. No place to be undermined.

Thanks jmonge for that suggestion. I don't know much about it because frankly i expected by now after windows 8 release at the turn of the year we might already had some great and exciting new startups reintroducing even better more granular HIPS in the same way they stormed on the scene for XP.

Isn't happening, and doesn't appear likely unfortunately.

NoVirusThanks, or any other has to put forward a package very end user configurable like we had on XP before it meets my crazy HIPS expectations. I'll check them out and see what they provide.

Updated ESET to v7, Sandboxie to v4.06 and trying out avast! Online Security

 

Notice a few still list WinPatrol. I have an unlimited lic. but its buried under years of dust. I thought it 'overtaken'. What does it do for you WinPatrol users to remain on your lists?

 

WinPatrol does its job quite well, especially with all the annoying non-malicious executables anti-virus behaviour shields let by these days (like unnecessary startup items). It monitors some essential areas I'd like to know of without manually checking myself every time.

 

This reply struck a chord in me... I think I'll dig out my licenses and put WP back on a couple machines.

Did you use Prevx when it was alive? I've used both and Prevx, for what it did, is better than WSA for what it claims to do IMO.

 

Yes I've used PrevX. WSA has better bigger resources. The PrevX team and Webroot team are working together in WSA. It's bound to be better. Joe and his team have made WSA stronger with the availability of more resources after joining Webroot. Anyways, no point arguing which one's better as PrevX is WSA now. And to each his own.

 

Webroot SA and ESET NOD are getting along just fine. No system slowdown or any conflicts. This are two really good products.

Since I don't need two RT antimalwares running, I decided to stay with Nod. If I ever become unsatisfied with ESET I will definitely check WSA.

Shoved AppGuard to my already overdone setup (CIS, EMET, MBAE). My PC bears it without lags. Yesterday I had fun having CIS + Avast!. Without lags as well. My PC is very endurable.

 

Can we disable it so that it does not start on the limited account ?

 

I don't really mind WSA, in fact running it alongside Avast free version on one rig to see how things go...going fine so far.

 

Until the current Windows 8.1 issues are fixed, I am running EAM 8.1.0.19 alongside AppGuard 4.0.8.0 and EMET 4.0. EAM is set to: scan only programs before they are executed.

EAM remains to be my protection of choice in an environment where I deem it necessary to deploy realtime protection. I think this a very well thought out product which achieves excellent protection without imposing unnecessary features on the customer. May it forever stay free of this stuff, no matter how much some may cry for it, just because they don't know they don't actually need it.
