I get a blue screen of death with build 1145 under Win 8.1. KERNEL_AUTO_BOOST_INVALID_LOCK_RELEASE

Uninstalled, reinstalled. The blue screen returns after a few minutes. Removed build 1145, no more blue screens.

I also get an ERROR 32 when trying to build the rescue media under Win 8.1

Yes, the lack of short vowels in written Hebrew is the bane of all those who learn it as a second language, until today.

Hebrew may not have served as a spoken language during that period, but it was far from dead. Most of its rabbinic and legal literature, its textual analyses and even its classical lyric poetry are from then (a large part of which, incidentally, was produced in Moorish Spain prior to our expulsion in 1492).

I think we should leave it at that if we don't want to get kicked off the list by Peter.

Doesn't anybody else here require (as opposed to 'would like to have') multi-partition (single HDD) support, or have they abandoned all hope and just stopped reading the thread?

This makes me wonder how to best use AX64 on my machine.

I have my Windows 7 partition on my SSD: C: drive

and I have relocated the Users' Special Folders to D: drive (1st of 2 partitions on my mechanical HDD).

Am I understanding correctly that AX64 can only take snapshots of a single partition, in this case, my C: drive?

Also, I'm wondering if AX64 will follow the symbolic links in "C:\Users" folders that point to the Users' Special Folders I've relocated to D:

    Hi Jelson,

You have two type of special needs and thus you require two different solutions.

    1. Need One. Your OS System Drive Partition, which is partition C. For this you need an imaging program. There are lots out there. One of the benefits of AX64, that it is a fast imaging program. Second benefit of AX64, is that it can only restore the incremental image, thus it serves as a snapshot program.

    2. Need Two. Your Personal Folders, which are on partition D. For this you need a program which will make a mirror of your personal files on a periodic basis. One of these excellent FREE one is SyncBackSE. I own the the PAID version, but my personal favorite is Second Copy.

Both of the above requirements, needs to be copied on a different hard drive, in case of a failure of your main drive.

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

    multi-partition support following the merger

    Isso

There appears to be some misunderstanding concerning future multi-partition support (in a single HDD) since the announcement of your merger with RealCopy, and I would very much appreciate a clarification.

If the two programs remain separate, will multi-partition support be part of a future AX64 release or will it be limited to RealCopy? And if a combined RC-AX is envisioned, will it support multi-partition snapshots in the AX sense?

    Hello,

Windows 8.1 was just released a while ago, at least where I am (I don't know if there are regional differences) however I have not updated since it seems like AX64 has some issues with Windows 8.1, at least from reading other posts.
What I am wondering is if there is any rough ETA on the next release of AX64 with potential support for Windows 8.1? I mean, are we looking at a few days, a few weeks, a few months?

I hope I'm not coming across as impatient or rude, I really don't mind waiting for a while in fact I'm quite patient, however I find waiting easier if I know a rough ETA. :)

Also, thank you very much for such an excellent software, it has saved me from my own mistakes many times, times I would normally find myself re-installing Windows but since I started using AX64 I've had no need for that. :thumb:

Re: multi-partition support following the merger

Keep in ind that there are many overlaps in features and functions between AX64 and Real Copy. I suspect that once RC has been worked on for a bit it will provide for all your needs. AX64 will remain less complex and a bit less feature rich but RC will have all the bells and whistles. At least thats my understanding.

You might want to take a look at RCs feature list as it now stands and I suspect you will get my drift.

I think that we will be able to release the update in 2-4 weeks.

    Hi Dennis,

Does that mean we need to uninstall AX64 if we upgrade to Windows 8.1 due to blue screen?

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

P.S. We need a policy decision and a commitment!

I'm not sure which build 1145 AXDev is referring to. What I have is the "hybrid" build 1145 (backup engine of 1133 and restore engine of 1145). Maybe AXDev is referring to the complete 1145. A clarification would help.

How about a sub-forum for AX64 so that threads can be made on particular topics, which can be seen and attended to more quickly?

I also get the same BSOD with build 1120

    @silver0066 and MarcP

Do you get the BSOD when you do anything in particular or does it 'just happen?'

I have updated to 8.1 today and I had AX 1120 build already on Win 8 when I updated.

I haven't had a BSOD although I haven't done anything with AX yet, eg made a snapshot. I ran the machine for well over an hour after the update without issues. (on XP machine just now)

I only do manual updates by the way.

It just happens. I can leave the machine idle and the bomb explodes.

I get the same BSOD error with build 1145.

It does NOT just happen. I only do manual updates also. I am using b1120. I get the error when doing an incremental backup, at about the 95% mark. I was able to do a full backup and hard restore just after upgrading to 8.1. I could not restore the old 8.0 backup. I got an error code similar to -99998 or something like that. I will try another full backup on another drive with 8.1 and see what happens.

    Hi Isso,

now I have tried 1145. It seems a little bit more competitive then 1120 and 1133.

With uninstalling Bitdefender before the results are similar with 1120 and 1133. 1120 failed one time, 1133 and 1145 never.

With installed Bitdefender 1120 failed often, 1133 sometimes and 1145 only one time.

As a summary of my tests,I can say, that 1145 is currently the best.:)

But one thing, I don´t understand. Build 1133 shows in BackupBrowser 1133 and in Backup 1133. That´s ok.

But Build 1145 shows in BackupBrowser 1145 and in BackupTool 1131. I have read, that BackupTool-Version is in Build 1145 the same as in 1133.
But why 1131 and not 1133? Do you have "downgradet" the backupTool?

I just tried to do a Full Backup again. At about 95% I get a BSOD with the following error:

    KERNEL_AUTO_BOOST_INVALID_LOCK_RELEASE

I am very disappointed with AXTM. Now I can't go back to Windows 8 because AXTM fails when I try. I installed Macrium but it is very slow with no snapshots, but it works with Win 8.1. I am looking forward to when Isso gets this fixed. I will reinstall ShadowProtect from my pre-AXTM days, which is much faster than Macrium and go back to AXTM when the bugs are fixed.

Has anyone been successful in running 1133 or 1145 with 8.1?

Is it not possible to do a cold restore using AX64 to get back to 8? I thought Isso said you could do this (but I could be wrong). I would think it should work as the version of Win on the PC should not affect the restore process and since you would be using an AX64 image from prior to the 8.1 installation you should be golden.
