I cant help myself but AVs using a Metro Interface are ugly. The GUI before was nice and friendly but not this. Look at all the strong contrasts between the colors :ouch:

Nice :) How is Deepscreen atm?

I partially agree about the UI, it is more intuitive and logical now, but the style is uglier IMO.

When I did the builtin update from v8, I had to accept the privacy policy first so I checked it out and it seems to have changed and there are parts are worrysome, like this:
Here is the full EULA including Privacy Policy:

I didn't like the GUI but who cares ? I will not look at the GUI all the day.I hope it has better detection rate and performance.

Took about 35 minutes for the resident updater (Free) to complete with a gazillion "HTTP server error" messages noted in the GUI. Attributed to server overload no doubt but it got done successfully - a lesser service would most likely have crashed. Good job, avast!

The GUI is fantastic! It's the bestest GUI that ever was. No one will ever design a better GUI. Never. Not in a gazillion willion years.

In working with the Betas and RCs on another system and now with the update on this my main box, with Hardened enabled (moderate or aggressive) I got plenty of popups requesting exceptions (i.e. Networx, Open Hardware Monitor, and every Haller WhateverPortable.exe including plugincontainer.exe) which is OK, of course.

"This is recommended for inexperienced users" is extolled in the GUI. What??

Not to go off topic. But ESET has a new GUI in the works so it will change sooner or later too ;)

    a) Deepscreen is good

    b) What happened to the fast AVAST?
(for reference Ad-Aware only taken 0,38 secs average start time)

Sandbox & Software Updater are no longer in the Free version. :(
Sandbox requires Pro or higher, Software Updater requires Premier.
I could do without the Software Updater (though it was handy to have), but I really liked the Sandbox functionality.

Don't mean to look a gift horse in the mouth, but that's quite a bait-and-switch there, Avast. :(

I see now that both are still in Free in the same iteration & feature set as they already were.

Yes I know, it was just FYI since you mentioned it. Of course you know nothing about it, no one out here knows anything about the new GUI, it's not done yet. :D

    Now straight back to Avast.........

    Autosandbox is replaced by Deepscreen.
"Real" Sandbox is and was available in Pro version.

is anyone running this version of Avast free alongside another scanner without issue (MBAM/Webroot/etc)?

also what is the resource usage looking like on Win 7, 32 bit?

Software Updater is indeed in the free version...I can confirm that as well.

But, it doesn't seem to be working at the moment.

I purposely have an older version of Flash Player installed on one of my test machines and it still detects it as "Up to date".

I've had it this way since RC2.

So far working fine, except I already encountered a minor bug: "Restore and add to exclusions" on Virus Chest doesn't work.

It upgraded smoothly, the only problem is the action center is showing the program is turned off even though the process is running and when I hover over the Avast icon it says everything is good.

Deepscreen analysis is still the same, they didnt touch anything and stuff hasnt moved a inch

I will be very angry with that for sure  ...So they obviously didnt implement dyna-gen then why they advertise it on their website.

And then again, there will be bashers and haters day to trash avast for this and ruin the party
