Unless your system does not have enough RAM installed, memory usage simply does not matter, and using less memory will not make an antivirus lighter. The only thing which really matters is CPU usage and this completely unrelated to memory use.

I have tried various antivirus software on the laptop I'm using now, and they all caused noticeable slowdowns at times. On the other hand, 360 for the most part does not. Very occasionally CPU use rises a bit making my system run slower, but for now it does not happen enough for me to ditch it.

Before I joined Wilders, I came frequently to the site to read/learn about security programs, and to get the perceptions of members here regarding the various ones of interest to me. Bellgamin really shone with his knowledge and intelligence.

Upon initial installation, 360is alerts me that since I have Shadow Defender on my system installing 360is will cause instability! As I'm not willing to give up SD, I guess 360is is a no go for me. :doubt:

Nah. Install it anyway. It doesn't actually conflict or uninstall anything. I have SD and haven't had any issues when using 360.

I didn't use SD with 360 but it got along with all other various security staff.

Hey all. I'm stuck. Last nite started getting NSIS error on both PCs on reboot. So I assumed it had to be recent software - being 360 & Comodo FW. Uninstalled Comodo & NSIS remained. So tried to uninstall 360. It won't budge. So I reinstalled it over existing 360. All appears fine but...

Tried to re-install Comodo FW (run as administrator) but says I dont have permission to install. Same with trying to install AppGuard. No permission.

I suspect 360. Should have listened to James Bond.

Before I try again, any best practice to uninstall 360?

Kind of verifies what I posted a few posts back, you never know when you will need an uninstaller.

Revo uninstaller in safe mode ?

Even then you may still have to manually remove some registry keys.

    Hey Cruise,

I find that kind of strange as I have no issues whatsoever running SD with BitDefender AV. o_O

Shadow Defender + Qihoo 360 equals progress!

Irregardless of the 360 installer notice i went forward with that combo anyway and for months now not even a single glitch or any hint of conflict.

    This is on a Windows 8 x64.

    Many Regards Easter

Well from the browsers I tested with 360IS sandboxed (IE, FIREFOX and BAIDU-SPARK) only spark works flawlessly and good without and issues in 360IS sandbox. Firefox and IE still has issues.

I uninstalled 360 last night - it ended up being way too heavy for my liking.

    I posted about it here.

I'll be using no antivirus software for the moment.

Hehe, uninstalled it a long while ago because it was not as light as I thought!

It seemed very light at first. But for the last week or so my laptop was being unusually sluggish, which I did not originally think would be due to 360. However uninstalling it provided the proof.

It was a good example of where an antivirus is causing noticeable slowdowns while showing only very minimal CPU use.

Likely the new additions (like every AV) is bogging down the energy modules aka:CPU

It's still a keeper for me but switched it to On Demand for now.

    minor criticism:

I had to disable Q360's network protection option under proactive defense because it often conflicted with my VPN. specifically, when i disconnected from BolehVPN it would often crash when network protection was enabled.
