I did a Windows 7 update, and when I boot back up, the system does not recognize my little Genius MIC-01A microphone. Genius does not seem to have drivers to download, online. The mic is not listed now in device drivers. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hang on..... I have misidentified the problem, I guess. The mic is not recognized, but also, when I try to use the built-in mic on this Acer laptop, I get an error response: ""AN AUDIO RECORDING DEVICE CANNOT BE FOUND."" Yet, when I plug the Genius mic into my better half's laptop, it works fine, it records.

Never mind, Ladies and Gentlemen, Old Faithful did the trick: system restore.

I'll probably be back after the next Windows Update.

Actually when I did my updates last week I lost the drivers for my wireless mouse, they did install almost immediately but was weird.

same here. :D (with win 7) but in my case, it tried to install service pack for a version of net framework though i don't have that version installed on my system.
i remember someone recently mentioned here on wilders how windows update didn't work for them on their win xp pc.
    what's with windows update service?

You usually should not have to use System Restore to problems with updated drivers. You can go to Device Manager and roll back to the previous version of the driver.
