    Okay guys, time out.

Lets put speculation and things other then the actual software on hold. It is turning this thread into garbage.

    Pete

PS. This is indeed with mod hat on.

Nothing I see off hand. Maybe someone else will. One other question. While the Windows restores fail, have you tried on from the recovery CD.

Many thanks for your help and effort, Peter.

Yes, I have. With recovery CD restoring always was successful. But it´s as slow as a "normal" Imagingsoftware, so I prefer "Hotrestoring" of AX64.

It´s a replacement for Rollback Rx and I like the idea of Ax64 very much. But it has to be reliable.

At the moment I´m a little bit disappointed.

WF, do you have any LIGHT VIRTUALIZATION tools on your system (Shadow Defender, Sandboxie, Returnil, etc.)?

Only Sandboxie. Do you think this could be the problem?

Problem with Shadow Defender or Returnil I can understand. So I don´t use these tools. But Sandboxie works different then SD or Returnil.

Oddly the first versions of AX64 have worked flawlessly. And at that time Sandboxie was also installed. I have nothing changed, no Software and no Hardware.

The problems occured since 1117 or 1120, I´m not sure which build has first the freezing problem.

I would think not as long as your not doing the restore while the imager or browser were running in the sandbox.

I also run Sandboxie on the 3 machines I run AXTM on. As long as you have a means of restore, I would try taking an image, and then completely uninstall Bitdefender and see if thatk makes a difference.

Also Froggie, do you think there could be a remnant of Rollback causing any issues?

    Hi Pete,

I get the above problem about 30% of the time. I never had Rollback Rx installed on these machines. Sometimes, the HOT restore of snapshot takes about as long as doing a COLD restore from the Recovery Media.

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

    Hi Pete,

I will try that and report tomorrow.

I have used Rollback with a further Installation. To avoid remnants I have made a clean install without Rollback, only Ax64 and Macrium Reflect 5 Professional are installed (and Sandboxie).

Hi Pete! If WF used to be a RBrx user, and has since removed it successfully prior to AX64 integration, he should be fine. A successful RBrx unINSTALL does remove its special UpperFilter driver and returns the user's MBR to "normal" (whatever was there prior to RBrx installation).

I believe there is a known issue with W8 that has to do with its automatic maintenance function (cannot disable the function, only STOP it once it's started or manually START it). This is a function that's supposed to fire off at some pre-determined time each day. It's been known to not do this very successfully (as far as time is concerned) and if it fires off during the AX64 LIVE restore, it does seem to hang the restore. BUT... that should not be happening for every restore, only occasionally when the conflict occurs.

Werderforever, Mohamed and others experiencing the restore freezes,

Sorry for that problem. This issue is related to interfering third-party software, mostly AV and other security programs. It also may be attributed to not enough free RAM and some other aspects. The mechanism of "Hot" restore is a quite sensitive and some factors may make it to freeze.
We did our best to improve this in version 1145, and this version significantly decreased the occurrences of this problem. However to fully solve it we'll need to completely revamp the restore mechanism and we are working on it.

Sorry again, and for this moment I can only offer full refund to those who finds the program unusable. Werderforever, if I'm not mistaken I've refunded your purchase a month ago, if it's not the case please PM me your email and I'll refund it immediately. Thank you

For Windows 8.1 compatibility - we are working on it with wajamus and we are planning to release the next update with full Win 8.1 support.

Overall I can see a lot of concerns regarding the current situation of the software and its future. Guys all I can say is that I'll do my best to have the combined software meet your expectations. To be honest, after the merger of our teams I have less control over the development, but I'll do whatever I can to keep your involvement that made it possible to release AX64.

All I can say is "Wow!" Isso, thank you for continuing to review this thread and provide support! We can only imagine how crazy and busy your life must be right now. And, for you to take time to read this thread and be responsive and supportive of your product is commendable! On top of all that, to offer a full refund is just amazing.

I haven't much occasion to do too many hot restores; probably no more than 3 times. Only once did I have an issue. But, I can't tell you how much reassurance I have knowing that AX64 is on my system.

I, for one, will be waiting patiently for the next (last) version of AX64 and look forward to the new combined product. With Isso involved, I'm confident it will be a great product and will come with great support!

    Dearest Isso,

I am so glad that you are back, putting the unnecessary speculations to rest and bringing back the confidence in AX64.

Had no doubt in mind that you will soon be able to release AX64 with Windows 8.1 compatibility.

You are a great man and hopefully the merger will reap you excellent benefit. There is no doubt in my mind that the RealCopy team will listen to you regarding future developments and customers' satisfaction (marketing).

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

    Dear Mohamed,

Thanks a lot man, and I'm glad you're not mad at me for the frozen restores :) (considering the number of machines that you use AX64 on).

    Hi Isso,

yes, you are right, you have refunded the purchase, although I have never asked for that. That was very friendly from you.:)
Further you have said, that I can use AX64 furthermore.

Because I like the idea behind AX64 very much and want to buy it again after integration in Real Copy, I take part of the forum and want to try everything what is possible.
As advised from Pete I uninstall Bitdefender and restore after that.

Spot on AHK...my sentiments exactly. :thumb:

Have suffered from the failed hot restores about 50% of the time but when they work, boy are they quick. And for the 50% that do not work...there is the Recovery CD...and even that restore is relatively quick when compared to my previous imaging app (no names. of course...;) )

I too will wait the last :'( AXTM release...and then look forward to the RealCopy Time Machine (if that what it is called) first release.

    Regards

    Balders

    Dearest Isso,

    Some suggestion for future!

Two products AX64 and RealCopy and two revenue streams. AX64 as simple as it now without the bells and whistle, but very, very fast and all the bugs ironed out. RealCopy with all the bells and whistles, with can image more than one partition/drive.

Two websites, and both are sold on both website. One forum though!

The two websites with different domains can be easily linked!

Two revenue streams and two distinct sets of customers!

    Best regards,

    Mohamed
