But guess what this seems to be a similarity with COMODO because they havent also provided any info in valkyrie in CIS since years ;)

Yes, nowadays Valkyrie is mostly down.

I have tested Valkyrie quite heavily, one other user in Comodo forum have also tested it extensively. Valkyrie malware/zero day malware detection is amazing & gives very very low FP to none.

Hope they give Valkyrie priority than other non security software & implement it soon. It will add to Comodo protection & FP improvement a lot.

No they haven't. That's ok because I don't rely on their AV detection anyway. It would be nice if it was working though.

Had to give up on Avast. After trying all day to install (8 at first and then tried to install 9 beta as well) and try again this morning without success, Avast and my computer just do not get along. The only thing I did was return to Windows 7. Using 360 in it's place.

The question is, is it really avast!'s fault? Though in this case i'd suspect 2 things. Either Web Shield scanning the data stream or it scanning the scripts. Try fully disabling Web Shield and see if you're getting this high CPU usage.

The third would be a conflict with plugins in browser, try disabling all the plugins in browser apart from adobe flash.

With web shield disabled AvastSvc.exe stays at 0%. When enabled it spikes up to 25% cpu utilisation when watching youtube/video streams (that's on a i5 430m). Pretty annoying on my mom's older laptops that causes the laptop to hang when u skip parts of a video.

Also after some testing I still see deepscreen is completely a FAIL at its job right now,I can throw malware at it all day and it will never turn a positive result out

I seriously want a word on this.Is dyna-gen and dynamic binary translation released or not? And if the answer is yes then this is a complete FAIL and that SUCKS :p

Doubt it. Or maybe you have to throw a certain file at it to see if it is working. Maybe they're waiting for the final release to flip the switch. Would be nice if they had one more RC and it was actually working.

    Same here.

Tested latest 72 malware by spywar on malwaretips, deepscreen pops up often but doesn't detects anything.

That really sucks badly. I really wonder what the hell is going on with DeepScreen...

Cpu usage is almost 0 when you turn off web shield.

Regarding DeepScreen: yes, it's still not quite working as expected. The idea behind it is sound, but there's some technical issues that prevent it from being too useful atm.

BTW just to tone the expectations little bit: this is a long-standing project for us - and one that is sort of independent of the product itself and its release cycle (DeepScreen is contained in the defs). Which may mean that you may see A2014 go live with or without a quality DeepScreen, really depending on how everything goes. That is, DeepScreen by itself would likely not drag the release of A2014 because we can update it at any time (and the other stuff in A2014 is still superior to what we have in v8 ).

I hope to see some bigger progress later this week.

    Cheers
    Vlk

Will DeepScreen be release also as a standalone app?

Thanks for the clarification Vlk. Now i really cant wait to see where Deepscreen will go:)

Until then i will be happy with hardened mode on agressive mode to
Ake care of any undetected malware (i hope)

yeah I think that with everything else that 2014 has to offer, deepscreen will just be the icing on the cake. Hardened mode is a great little option.

That would be really cool! A standalone behavioral/reputation app instead of a full-blown AV.

Now that is more like it Vlk :D

Looks like I will have just sit back and wait :D Its good see all the 8 shields combined and merged into 2 with same power and protection.Avast continues to astonish me with the hardened mode and deepscreen feature even in free version as such.

I've always noticed that (even in previous versions), yet others continuously point out online videos are excluded.

Yes, they will get more customers/samples and we will get an additional layer of protection compatible with any security configuration.

Wishful thinking. But it will never happen because too many things in DeepScreen depend on other avast! components which would then be missing.
