    Hi sinlam,

    Thanks for your welcome :)

"SecureAPlus without AV", do you mean with only Whitelisting component ?

Concerning your next version of SecureAPlus, you told about the improvement on CPU ressource, but what about memory ressources ? It took 200 Mb. ;)

Hi Ashanta, yes, you are right :) "SecureAPlus without AV" refers to only the application whitelisting component. During installation, you can choose not to install the AV.

In the future version of SecureAPlus AV component, there will be great improvement in the memory resource too. We are working hard at it ;) I will share more information when the Beta 1 program is out :D

    Cheers,

  10. See you have added a few programs which are protected against dll injection.

Suggestion: check whether EMET config file is present during install and add all programs listed at EMET also to SecureA+ DLL protection

Hi Windows_Security, good suggestion :thumb: We will look into this and keep it in our pipeline :)

Are you continue using ClamAV? what is the point for any user to install it?
ClamAV in the best case scenario could be around a 40% of detection in a real antimalware test of AVC.
For any user will be much better to install SecureAplus and then any free AV like Panda cloud, avast, AVG, Comodo, bitdefender....

I mean is ok you want to have an AV in your product but this will not benefit the final user and it won't improve their security

Hi guest, thank you for pointing this out :) The good news is we are not going to solely rely on ClamAV in the future version of SecureAPlus. I will disclose more when the beta program 1 is out in two months' time :)

Man, SecureAPlus is a really good application. After it makes its whitelist it catches everything executed thereafter. Very nice.

A question. I know how to export the whitelist but I'm not clear on importing. Will importing a whitelist stop the whitelisting process? At what point after installing SecureAPlus is the recommendation for importing a whitelist?

    Thank you, Sinlam. :).

Hi Bob, good to see you again :) We are extremely glad that you feel SecureAPlus is a really good application. Thank you so much :D

You can import the whitelist from SecureAPlus Whitelisting Advanced settings but this can be done only after the initial whitelisting is completed. Here are the steps:

    1. Launch SecureAPlus application. Then, click on "Application Whitelisting" button.

    import_whitelist_1.png

    2. Click on "Advanced Settings" button.

    import_whitelist_2.png

    3. Click on "Import whitelist from a file..." button to import the whitelist.

Another way is to install SecureAPlus Application whitelisting with whitelist Gold image. This is good for existing SecureAPlus users who wish to install SecureAPlus on exactly identical machines. By doing so, users can install SecureAPlus without having to whitelist the entire disks after the installation is completed. You can refer to "SecureAPlus Installation Guide" in Section 4, "Installing Application Whitelisting with Whitelist Gold Image" on page 15 for a step-by-step guide.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask if you have further query :)

    Cheers,
    sinlam

    Hey Sinlam,
Could you provide a link to your "SecureAPlus Installation Guide" please? I've been to your site many times searching for it but its location eludes me.

Sometimes I have bad cases of "you can't see the forest for the trees" (an old southern saying meaning it's right in front of you but you still can't see it).

    Thank you.

Hi Bob, so sorry that you have to search high and low for the installation guide. The fault is ours as we should have put in a more prominent location instead of hiding within the Referral Program portal. My sincere apology.

I have now added in all the SecureAPlus guides at https://secureaplus.secureage.com/Main/resource_center.php under the header "SecureAPlus Collaterals".

Bob, I really must thank you for pointing this out to me :thumb: Comment like this truly helps us to improve the user's experience in surfing SecureAPlus website :)

    Cheers,

How does the "Import Whitelist" feature work? Can users make a pre-defined list eg a text file, to import into SecureAPlus?

It's explained in the SecureAPlus Installation Guide from Sinlam's link above. You have to had installed SecureAPlus one time prior with it completing a full whitelisting of files on your system. You then can export that whitelist (sawhitelist.dat) and save it to a usb drive, for example. If or when you need to re-image your PC/laptop, followed by installing all the applications you had on your PC/laptop at the time when you exported your sawhitelist.dat, then getting SecureAPlus up and running quickly appears to be a snap.

    Thanks Bob :)

I thought there would be a quick and dirty way of building the whitelist without reinstalling SecureAPlus

Just tried the instructions from SecureAPlus Installation Guide for an identical system state (meaning I had the same applications installed as at the time I exported the whitelist). As explained in the guide, just place your SecureAPlus executable (in my case SecureAPlusNoAVSetup_v2.0.19.exe) and the sawhitelist.dat file within the same folder (Desktop, in my case), then execute SecureAPlus. It automatically looks for sawhitelist.dat on execution, imports it, and doesn't go through the initial whitelist process as usual. Nice feature, Sinlam. I like it.

    Best regards,

    Bob

Sorry jnthn, unfortunately there is no quick and dirty way of building the whitelist. Currently, SecureAPlus only supports .dat format for the import and export of whitelist for security reason. This is to prevent people from modifying the whitelist entry wantonly by simply creating a text file. For enhanced security, the .dat file is encrypted using a fixed key. This deters anyone from manually crafting and manipulating the whitelist file.

As mentioned in my post #390, you can manually import the whitelist only after the initial whitelisting is completed. The import button is disabled when the initial whitelisting is still in progress. The manual import mode is actually the append mode (union mode) whereby new entries from different machine will be appended to the existing whitelist database.

The method mentioned by Bob is extremely useful for those who wish to replicate gold image to many identical machines without having to go through the initial whitelisting process.

Hope this helps to answer your query. If you need further clarification, please feel free to ask ;)

    Cheers,
    sinlam
