just installed Avira ISSuit and not see Avira firewall. The Action Center recognizes only windows firewall. This means that Avira IS Suite does not own firewall?

What about the firewall for WIN XP ?

That Windows firewall has no outbound control.

The Download Crew "free" link still points to version 13. (I installed it - 13.0.0.4052.) That's the same version that the Avira site itself has. (I compared MD5 hashes - identical.)

I wish Avira put the version number into the installer's file properties, so I wouldn't have to install it to find out.

I've just re-installed Avira free on my netbook, and if one wants the web protection one has to allow the installation of the Ask toolbar (I didn't) on the other hand right after the installation there was a big update (about 6MB) which was performed fairly quickly and no nag screen appeared as far as my computer and geographical location are concerned.

So it still wants you to install the Ask toolbar? Because I remember an earlier post said they were making their own toolbar to replace it.

Avira did not update to V14 in my system. Is the program update based on the location you live ?

    1) It says "your license isn't for that product" or "The license file could not be installed“ ?

    2) Are you trying to install the Antivirus Suite or Internet Security Suite ?

IMHO, your old keys for Internet Security 2013, are still valid for the new Antivirus Suite.

Thanks for that. I went to the page that specifically lists "Avira Antivirus Free 2014, Windows, Oct 1, 2013, EXE, 117 MB" and clicked on the download arrow. But it still links to the installer for 13. 110 MB, same hash as I got for the V13 installer files yesterday. Not sure what's going on - nobody else seems to be having this issue. Maybe what you get depends on where you live (I'm in the US).

That said, the nag screen is gone. This was mentioned prominently in the Avira user forums, and seems to apply to any version -
    http://forum.avira.com/wbb/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=156148

I haven't had the nag screen since I installed 13 yesterday and it's updated a couple of times. This alone has me looking again at Avira :)
