Since there is very little question that PGP by "Symantec" (being an American co.) has a backdoor, are there any options for open source software to encrypt the whole disk? Right now I just create a TrueCrypt container but I absolutely put nothing inside my Mac I wouldn't want a Grand Jury to see. But that's not freedom.

Whole disk encryption options on OSX are not many. IIRC, File Vault would be the only option, and that's proprietary so I wouldn't trust it.

Mac is closed source so you can't protect against it.
