Is there a way that I can support mobile laptop users with NOD32? I currently have NOD32 set so all clients (including laptops) pick up virus updates from a server on the LAN. If they go home and work from their home network the only way they could pick up updates is by VPNing in. Is there a way I can set it so once they go mobile and leave the LAN that they start picking up updates from one of the many ESet definition update sites w/ a supplied username/password?

As far as I know, NOD isn't available for Windows CE and Palm OS.

    Thanks for ruining my thread.

    Is this possible or NOT?

Yes there is. I am assuming that you are using NOD32 RA. Under the config file that you setup for your laptops you want to put AUTOSELECT. This goes where you put update the server path.

Doing that will cause it to bounce between the LAN server and WAN server. I want strictly LAN when on LAN and WAN when on WAN. It works but ultimately it is very ugly.

There is no good support for it. What you could do is to create a new update profile, and set it to update more seldom than the "real" schedule. For example, on dial-up connection, and.. once a day (and immediately if not fulfilled).

    Best regards,
    Anders

Just sounds like something Eset should implement.

I have about 10 laptop users. Some travel about 3,000 miles from home and don't came back to headquarters for updates for at least a week or two. Becaues of that I have them perminantly updating from an Eset site rather than from a LAN site. I'd sure like to specify both LAN and WAN sites though as we gain laptop users pretty often.

Arrowsmithmidwest: No problem. Sorry for snapping.

If you use the autoselect option it only works for the WAN. You can not update from the lan.
