Of course there is that element of risk. But the upside is innovation and better quality software. Sandboxie is the prime example of that.

Also compare this software in it's infancy vs Rollback which from a mature and stable company, producing it's most recent version which isn't setting to well.

Sorry, I don't get what you mean, but Pete actually explained AX64 quite well. :)

I got AX64 Time Machine to restore within Windows again! Not sure how it just randomly started working again!

    So happy.

He's concerned about products being developed by a one-man, or two-man, strong development team, and asking if his fears are groundless.

Is AXTM 1 guy or a small workforce? There is a difference.

:D These days 1 IMHO is not sufficient.

Look at OA it was a small workforce and had support issues on a fine design concept. It got sold in the end.

I see what you mean. I think a good portion of software has been started by just a few people and prospered. There's always a risk. A good example is FDISR.

Hello Peter: (I can't use Big P or you would try to ban me:D )

Agreed that large firms produce poor untested software we don't need to list examples.

Agreed that small firms or one man bands have produced innovative tools!

BUT what do we do? dependence for our own setups on test software like AX64 and Sandboxie etc etc.... the more 1 man bands we add the more risk that one of these guys will burn out.

I think maybe the solution is multifaceted.

1 test software on my surfing notebook ( i'm on now)
2 no test proven stable software on my financial/tax submission notebook

and in both cases 1 and 2 have backup products ready to fill in and do image restore and isolation execution.

    What do you think?

AX64 is a small workforce, but owned by 1 guy.

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

OA's issues had nothing to do with the size of the workforce, and isn't a valid comparison.

Let me PM you on this, I am not comfortable discussing it in public. It will be later today.

Meantime I'd say it's well worth your while to test AX64

    Pete

Most (many?) of us have added AX64 to their tool box but we have not necessarily eliminated anything from the box. I still follow my routine of imaging with a 2nd program weekly as I have been doing for years (I used to use Rx and the imaging app together, now its AX64 & the imaging app). So your only risk is that an app you like may, at some point, no longer be supported (maybe), and you will miss it. That, is the extent of your risk.

Isso has mentioned that there are 4 people involved so that would mean a small workforce.

My understanding from Isso is that it is him plus a team of 3 programmers. So the FOUR that BG referred to.

    I quite understand Pete.

I'll read your PM of course Pete. But we don't need to discuss OA at all from my point of view. I have gone to OP now and all that stuff is history.

In the meantime I'll test AX64 on my W7 64 bit as you suggest. What version would you suggest?

So based on the posts here both these products have small teams of programmers. Thus my concerns are reduced.

As has been pointed out I can keep my present tools for imaging.

Im sorry guys, im gonna take the mick here. After using quite a few imaging programs over the years. In spite whether a one or two man owns ax64. The point is, it works great.

Im gonna go back to using acronis, made by a strong team and keep having my images fail or get corrupted and complain that things are tite because it was made by a workforce of a 20 - 50 and whinge like hell.

I sure hope AX64 gets back on the scene, because its gonna take some beating, forget Rollsack.

    :'(

My timing is superb LOL. I just successfully used AX64 TM to do multiple restores for testing purposes. It worked nicely and am ready to purchase only to see that things have become "complicated" according to the thread.

Hope things clear up for the better.

Unfortunately, nobody has been able to purchase it for over a week. I can't imagine how Isso would be okay with the store being down for such a long time. There isn't even any updates on their facebook page. A downtime of such magnitude should warrant some form of communication explaining the situation. Somehow, I don't think it is accidental.
