Which OS do you use the most at home?

I use Windows 7 and find it the best of any Windows version that I've ever used - WinNT through Win8 inclusively.

That said, my daughter is a recent convert from Windows to OS X (Mtn. Lion) and having helped her setup her Mac (migrating her app-data from Windows) I must say that I really like the Mac's OS a lot.

I couldn't agree more. I have two laptops, a 15" W7 notebook, which I use at home, and an 11" Macbook Air, which is always with me at school and when travelling. Of the two operating systems I find OS X superior (although W7 is very good).

OS X Mountain Lion is as refined as a BMW is (note: I can only imagine that analogy is true, as I really can't afford a beemer on a teacher's salary).

Just one of the OS X features which I totally love is that it keeps working while my MacBook Air sleeps with its lid closed (downloading updates, mail, etc. ...so everything is up-to-date the instant it wakes up)!

Ps. Imho, as it regards the Mac's OS X, I don't believe this poll is very meaningful because Wilders Security Forum is basically a Windows (and Linux) oriented forum, with relatively few Mac users participating.

 

So I presume it's not going to sleep when the lid is closed? You can configure Windows to do the same.

My old job i used to use imacs. Switching over to windows & a PC was akin to the sensation you get when the teacher used to push the chalk the wrong way on the blackboard. Even the keyboard feels 'yuck'. Oh for the 'good ol' days.'

Besides Macs don't need Wilders much do they? So Mac users in here will be a minority. No? Hence the low vote?

 

But, that's not a PC specific issue, it's just that you were using a PC with a porr quality keyboard.

Try Icaros Desktop (AROS), it works fine (but no Guest Additions).

Used to be on WinXP, then switched to Win7 that I liked very much. However, the last rumors about Windows backdoors made me try Ubuntu, which really is a very good surprise! Installed it on my PC, no problem at all, included as far as hardware is concerned. I then tried it on my laptop, works seamlessly there too.

Now I always load Ubuntu at GRUB startup, Win7 is left dormant without any regret.

Got a question: how does LinuxMint compare with Ubuntu? Never heard of it 'till I read this thread.

Wow, Linux is much higher here, but I guess it would be among computer enthusiasts.

 

80% of the time Windows, but I also use and like Ubuntu the rest of the time.

 

windows 7 Ultimate at school and 8 at home.

 

I used linux for a long time but descided to mix it up (that and gaming). I now use windows mostly, linux occusionally and android on my phone.
