Wise Care 365 Pro Today Only At Bits Dujour

Please remove if this is an inappropriate post. I thought it might be of interest to members of Wilders. I have nothing to do with Wise or Bits.

I thought it might interest fans of systems utilities that Bits Du Jour is today (Sept 7&8 ) offering fully-functional Wise Cleaner 365 Pro for free. You must provide some sort of email address to which to send the installer. I checked the package with Norton and all was clean.

I've been trying the program and must say that I like it very much. So much so that I got rid of my previous favorite, SlimCleaner. I worried that Wise might try to take over things like ASC or ToolWiz did. Instead, it seems like a more advanced version of my old favorite, WinUtilities. Other than a scheduled cleaning, which you can opt out of, it pretty much leaves you in control. So far I have noticed no ill effects on my W7 Lenovo or Vista Dell.

Having tried it, is anyone familiar with JV16 Powertools? If so, would you say WC is better, or not as good? I have been using JV16 Powertools for years and think it's getting long in the tooth. However I have no experience with anything else except CC Cleaner which I experimented with and i'm afraid of. Thanks in advance for any input. I have 8 hours to make up my mind.

 

I've not used jv16 in a while. At one time (and maybe they still are) a significant portion of the purchase price went to a non-disclosed political party. I say "non-disclosed" but a person could find the info about the affiliated political party if they searched hard enough. Because of this lack of transparency I decided to no longer support the product by using it or recommending it to others.

 

Yes I remember hearing that. So how does Wise Care compare with jv16 as you remember using it?

 

I've not used Wise Care 365 and there is little info listed about the company on their site or in the domain's whois info. Anyway, the BDJ giveawy does not allow updates and is locked at version 2.75. If updated it turns to a freeware version. Considering the difference between the normal Pro vs. freeware appears to be skins/avatars, updates and tech support (whatever that is) available in the Pro it may be just as well to use the freeware version. Although I'm not sure is adware is included in the freeware there would most likely be a need to have updates from time to time on a system cleaner/optimizer IMO.

I use WC365 & like it. I too back in the day used jv16pt. Last I heard over the last 3yrs or jv16 turned into junk. Imho as soon as Macecraft took over it was downhill.

Now as far as WCPro giveaway & version locked. I snagged this from site.

So I if the differeence between free is warranted for me I'll try it.

 

Apparently they've extended the offer to today as well. While I like the program so far, I'm not necessarily advocating anyone using it. I just wanted to point out the giveaway. As far as the updates, this is pretty much the same thing as goes for most of the giveaway programs. I got WinUtilities Pro from Giveaway of the Day and it reverted to WinUtilities Free without warning upon a few updates. I'll just have Norton's Firewall block Wise until I find a new flavor of the month.

The program itself seems comparable to Glary Utilities, ToolWiz, WinUtilities and SlimCleaner. It has more features than CCleaner and doesn't try to hijack the browser like Glary. I don't believe it cleans quite as well as SlimCleaner. It's not perfect to be sure. The Boot Booster actually did cut a bit of time off my boot, but- like my Lenovo Boot Optimizer- PerfectDisk does not like where the Booster puts the boot files, and promptly puts them back into its choice areas upon scheduled defrag. It doesn't begin making suggestions which might possibly be detrimental like ToolWiz (turning off Remote Assistance, Error Reporting, and Network Optimization). Like WinUtilities and Glary, it's mostly manual but has a scheduled cleaning if you want it. The one thing I really don't understand is the PC Checkup. This is supposed to be a comprehensive check of waste items like temporary files and other unnecessary bits. When you clean with it, you can go over to the File Cleaner and find still more items. Then the Privacy Cleaner will usually find one or two bits more. Wouldn't it be better just to have PC Checkup do it all in one turn? As far as cleaning, it's a ballerina compared to the heavyweight that is my current cleaner of choice, Privazer.

As to its source, I'm pretty sure Wise is yet another Chinese systems utility company like WinUtilities, ToolWiz and (I'm fairly certain) Glary. I liked SlimCleaner for its domestic roots, but I always felt the program was spying on me, what with the 'call back to mother'-thing when you fired up the program. Honestly, Ive about given up on trying to be an island. If Wise can get anything out of me, let 'em.

Like every system utility I've tried, it leaves you with the same old wish: "If I could take the file cleaner from X, the defrag from Y...."

 

Is this product from china? I prefer the free one like Toolwiz Care.

 

I'm pretty sure Wise is Chinese, as are ToolWiz, WinUtilities, Iobits and Glary (I've recently read that Glary is Chinese, so I'm going by that). Honestly, I don't worry that much about the source as my Lenovo is also Chinese. If they spy on me, they can join the NSA, Google, YouTube, Microsoft, and a million others...

The W365 Pro giveaway's over, though. I used ToolWiz a bit and liked it okay. The biggest difference is that- once activated- ToolWiz (like Advanced System Care) runs automatically and does its optimizing with little interference from you. This program, SlimCleaner, WinUtilities and Glary Utilities are much like a manual shift car. You have to do most of the work as far as the cleaning goes- that is, you run the scans and then decide what gets cleaned.

Like I previously posted, I like the program so far, but in no way do I think it's extraordinary. Far from it. SlimCleaner cleans better (yet I believe SC does not clean the registry as well-should you need that- as CCleaner or these other programs). One thing I like about SC is that as you add programs on your computer, it apparently accesses them to find out if they have cleaning options. When I purchased PerfectDisk and added Paint.net, SC added their log files to the cleaning list without my input. I'm not crazy about SC's cloud approach, but that's becoming the way of the world. This Wise program, as far as I know, when activated doesn't call back home with everything I've got on my computer like SC.
