Damn I miss trying secureaplus on my main system because of CTM non-compatibility. I looked into other snapshot programs like rollback rx and others and they all are un-trusthworthy and read they were said to be like a hardcore trojan like program and they "activate remote registry and remote connections".

So CTM is the only one that does not open a registry connection or anything sneaky.

So will you guys a secureaplus fix the CTM issue of crash reboot loop with secureaplus? Specially the 2.9 version.

    Hi:

I am looking into ax64 time machine for CTM replacement and was wondering if it is compatible with secureaplus? Does anyone know if it is?. If it is compatible then I will use it instead of CTM so I can install secureaplus. Thanks in advance for your reply.

Re: SecureAPlus Freemium New Release v. 2.0.19

Hi guys, we have just released version 2.0.19.

Based on some of your valuable feedback, we have added in a new context menu with two application whitelisting options, "Interactive Mode" and "Lockdown Mode". You can do a right-mouse click to view it.

    release_v2.0.19_1.png

If you select "Interactive Mode", SecureAPlus will prompt you whether to trust a program when it is not found in the trusted list.

Alternatively, you can choose "Lockdown Mode" if you want the untrusted file to be blocked automatically without any prompting. But please bear in mind that when you want to install any program that is not found in the trusted list, you have to trust it as an installer first. Otherwise, the installer will not be able to run.

In this version, we have also fixed the BSOD problem when Microsoft Security Essential is scanning the page file.

You can download version 2.0.19 or view the latest release note at https://secureaplus.secureage.com/Main/release.php. Please feel free to give us any feedback ;)

Hi taleblou, my apologies for the late reply. You may consider installing the latest SecureAPlus v2.0.19. We have tested it with Time Freeze and CTM in Windows 7 64-bits. They seem to be working fine based on the following testing scenarios and with no other security software in the system.

    Time Freeze and SecureAPlus V2.0.19
    1. Install Time Freeze.
    2. Reboot
    3. Install SecureAPlus V2.0.19
    4. Wait for virus definition to complete updating. But initial whitelisting is still on-going.
    5. Time freeze the OS.
    6. Reboot
    7. Time freeze goes back to normal. SecureAPlus is running fine. Initial whitelisting resumes.

    CTM and SecureAPlus V2.0.19
    1. Install CTM.
    2. Reboot
    3. Create a snapshot before installing SecureAPlus v2.0.19
    4. Install SecureAPlus v2.0.19
    5. Everything runs fine.
    6. Revert to old snapshot and everything is back to normal.

taleblou, hope this new version will really help to solve your problem :)

sinlam, "Disable protection" and "Exit" options in tray icon's context menu would make a nice addition.
What do you think about it?

Hi siketa, thanks for your suggestion :) We plan to add in another "Trust All mode" option in the next release. In this mode, users will get to select whether to trust all applications for 5 mins, 30 mins or until the next reboot. Is this the same idea that you have for the "Disable protection"?

Can you elaborate more about how the "Exit" option works?

Re: SecureAPlus Freemium New Release v. 2.0.19

Hi siketa, thank you for your suggestion on adding the exit option. But it may not be advisable to add this option. Exiting from SecureAPlus application will affect the whitelisting protection.

    1. For security reason, Application Whitelisting engine is designed to be not easily terminated, even in Safe Mode. This is to ensure that no malware can terminate our engine. Actually, we can't even terminate it ourselves. That is why machine needs to be rebooted in order to completely remove and terminate it.

    2. Application Whitelisting has to be on all the time in order to continously monitor legitimate new entries. Takes Windows update for example. If we are able to terminate Application Whitelisting, problem will occur when there is a new update from Windows. The new update will not be trusted.

    3. When we restart Application Whitelisting again, there is a potential issue that Application Whitelisting will block the new files. This may result in serious problem like the computer is unable to boot up because the new operating system files are being blocked by Application Whitelisting.

Hope you have a better understanding regarding why we can't add in the exit option.

Please feel free to give us more suggestions :)

    Cheers,
    sinlam

    Hi siketa,

Yes, SecureAPlus can recognize invalid or revoked signature :) Please refer to the example below:

Windows Explorer shows that the digital signature is not valid.

    digital_signature_1.png

SecureAPlus is able to detect it.

I have noticed that sometimes, when SAP blocks a file in Lockdown mode, the same popup shows couple of times (each one after few minutes or even after PC restart).
I will make some further testing and will report back.

Hey sinlam. Disable mode would be a great feature like others mentioned. Would allow to install big packages without having 5000 popups, nearly staling the computer.

How about the AV part, any development or plans about changing from ClamAV engine to another? (would still love a realtime hitman pro scanner) xD

    P, read the post #284.
    ;)
Also, you can right click on the file and set it as Trusted installer.

Thank you Pedersen for your suggestion :) Like what siketa had said, we will be adding in a "Trust All mode" in the next version release. In this mode, all the files will be trusted temporarily and users will get to choose the following duration 5mins, 30mins, until the next reboot. What do you think?

We may still stick to ClamAV but only for document scanning. Initially, we also do not think highly about ClamAV. But after we have done an enterprise project, we are surprised to find out that ClamAV are extremely powerful for document scanning. We are going to just make full use of this key strength together with our other concept.

We will also be studying various synergy options with other products...

    Cheers,
    sinlam

I skip it cause it is too heavy for my taste and has low detection ratio.
    Just my 2 lipas....

turn off real time scanning with Clam if you think it is heavy. Its detection rate is in reality about the same as many. The white listing is all I use real time with Hitman Pro for scanning. I also use Hitman Pro Alert on my browser and all works seamlessly.
