The DNT ship sailed away long ago, there's no reason to even keep fighting for it. There was no way to really even enforce it and the involved corporations have proven over and over again that they don't care one iota (and don't have to) about the privacy or concerns of users so long as they keep making money off of tracking and ads.

The only effective measures at this point will be government measures..the government preventing tracking, riiiight..or us continuing to play hardball with our ad and tracking blockers. And, really, all those tools have gotten us is more insidious methods of tracking us and being blocked from websites until we disable said tools.

 

sounds like a phony group thats not really interested in getting anything implemented. (the real privacy advocates apparently just resign from it)

and Swire says: "Today the White House announced that I will be serving on President Obama’s Review Group on Intelligence and Communications Technology" so you have to wonder who's side he was on anyway. was prob just an industry shill trying to prevent anything getting done.
