Since I can not mount an image, should I remove AX64 and reinstall? I can rename the AXTM folder, and then uninstall. If no one has ever had this issue, it may be worth trying. OH, these are all Manual backups, but should that matter?

His last post said he was going on a trip. Open a support ticket on their site.

MPSAN, no need to rename the AXTM snapshot folder... it isn't touched during the unINSTALL.

Fell free to try as you suggest. When AX64 TM is reinstalled, it will pick up where it left off with your existing snapshots. The first snap following the reINSTALL will be a long one (in time) but normal size.

EDIT: Snapshots (MANUAL or AUTOMATIC) make no matter.

Great. I will try again tomorrow. I do not recall anyone having an issue with mounting an image. I do not have this issue with any other backup software I am using.

Anyway, I will update this tomorrow.

OK guys I'm back :) It wasn't really a vacation though, maybe later I'll have one.

MPSAN - please open a ticket, I'll have a look.

I cleared up several hundred GB from D:, tried making the initial backup with AX64 and still got the same error.

even with the smaller, previous free space i was still able to make a backup image to it with drive snapshot. the image was about 50 GB.

    Hi Pagenn,

One thing good came out of it that you cleaned some junk. However, on your other issue maybe you should open a support ticket since Isso is now back.

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

Hmm.. I always have my Ram Disc mounted on when I take backups...
Maybe that's the reason AX64 gives sometimes error messages when trying to start the backup, but it eventually starts to backup, after some 3-4 tries..
Not sure how could Ram Disc affect on VSS's functioning, since the ram disc has different drive letter than the one to be backed up..

    Hi Rokhsana

I believe that the answer is 'No' or at least Not Yet. That s based on there being a feature request pending/logged at the AX64.com Feedback site:

    http://feedback.ax64.com/forums/206143-general/suggestions/4314553-restore-to-dissimilar-hardware

to which site registered users can add comments to/vote for/track status, etc...so you may want to wander over there, review and possibly commnet on/vote for this feature?

    Regards, Balders

Well, I FINALLY got around to installing this baby (Win7 system). Haven't done too much with it yet but I would like to say, this thing is insanely fast. (Doesn't that usually mean damn good programing engineers?) My initial backup (baseline or whatever) was 43 gig and it took 4 minutes 50 seconds! In all fairness my c:drive is a SSD but not the recovery drive. This was much faster that ShadowProtect ever did on my SSD and THAT IS SAYING SOMETHING.

Tested it just once for recovery, again, insanely fast, of course I had not made that many changes to my system at that point.

As someone at another forum said, "Drop dead simple to use". Overall very first impression: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Thanks to all who helped me getting started on this, especially Peter2150.
Isso, if this thing continues to work this silky smooth, I will be purchasing a family license.

    Acadia

EDIT: Just did another restore for timing purposes (very few changes to system). Total restore time, one minutes, 20 seconds, and that includes reboot. My c:drive is a SSD, my recovery drive is mechanical.

A question: Can I shrink the partition of my baseline and then normally continue in my backup-chain or do I have to start with a new baseline after the shrink?
    Thanks!

    Hi Jale :)

At this time, as far as I am aware, you will have to start a new baseline after partition re-size, in your case reducing the size.

I am referring to this post from Isso:

    Hope that helps. :)

    Great idea!

OH, since I am going to try a re-install, I wonder if I can get 1133?

OK, but let me try 1133 to see if that works (if I can find it). OH, I do not know if you saw it but someone else has an XP system where the USB mouse will not work on the Rescue Media so I guess it may not be my system after all.
