How secure is Axcrypt in comparison to Truecrypt?

I am looking for a file encryption program that is similarly as secure as Truecrypt (but can encrypt individual or multiple files) and am leaning towards Axcrypt.

If I am using a quality 20+ passphrase, is Axcrypt just as secure as Truecrypt? I mean is an attacker still trying to climb a 1000 mile wall vs a 1200 mile wall?

Or is there a superior file encrypting program?

    Thank you in advance

Depends. Can you see the source code from this encryptor? Can you compile it and see if the hashes matches with the online one (if it has this function)?

It will mostly depend on the implementation, not the algorithm (although I wouldn't recommend using AES), and not the password if it's a strong one.

Regardless, just adding that anytime you encrypt something if it's new it's better to encrypt the blank non-informative file first, so that there never is an "original" with any information. I use them both in conjuction, with diff passphrases. Can hurt to add 200miles, and in this case adding "1200" if you use both.
