Has F-Secure's 'banking protection' module ever been tested by one of the testing houses? Has a look at MRG Effitas but can's see F-Secure there. Not good if you have to manually request banking protection on a by site basis - how do you know if you're protected or not?

I see F_Secure still are not using strong and clear branding on their alert or notification boxes.

Missed opportunity as it could be fake/ransomware. I tell my gran and wife and kid never to click on a pop up alert that says "Your Computer Security says..... or 'A Scan of your computer disck says..... you may have a virus, click here to resolve". One way to avoid this is to know what brand of AV you are using and if an alert box pops up which is unbranded and just says "Your AV says you might be infected click here to sort out" don't click, it could be ransomware/fake. At least if they put the F-Secure logos on the alert boxes, users would have a better chance of identifying F-Secure from a fake.

I another thread i've just picked up that f-secure's banking protection (v2013 December 2012) was poor to say the least. Failed 15 out of 15 in this Matousec test specifically dealing with banking protection:

Not good. Puts me right off F-Secure on the 'banking protection' front (unless anyone knows of a more recent test that shows improvement?)

In the new Internet Security Technology Preview released today they have incorporated a new "Cleaup Tool" which is their Online Scanner. This may detect more adware/spyware. But I would still not rely on an AV for adware/spyware detection but each to his own.

I think it is a beta problem; my beta was the same, the updater stated it was up to date but the signatures were older than this. But in the official 2013 version, although not checking everyday, the signatures were logged as daily in the database versions section in the Settings Window. So I will keep a closer eye on the new Technology Preview version released today ;)

It show alert when it is active. It protect some banks, but it doesnt protect some others. But Kaspersky safe money has same situation. Bitdefender Safepay hasnt got this limitation.

Dedection is good but removal is problem. Other Av's can delete easly them but F-secure has problem. They must correct this problem. I can delete them with delete button but F-secure cant delete. This is not normal. We arent talking about complex samples/highly infected machines, They are just malware file and not active.

I dont know, 3 days old signature=waste protection for me. I used v2013 but i had same problem but it was not bad as beta. I cant accept update problem in this century. Baidu for example.

It has cloud protection also, so it is not totally unusable with 3 days old signature. It was dedect many 0 day sample but i dont like it.

nevermore i like deep guard. It can dedect many samples. But today every product has their own deep guard, so i uninstall it.

Just got an email today saying a new version was released. I'm using the 1 year free trial of F-Secure's AV right now, I'm wondering if it's worth swapping over to the suite's beta. The fact that I wouldn't be able to swap back if the suite bugs out means I would swap to something else entirely, such as Avast free or Eset's suite. I'm honestly just worried the AV doesn't have a web scanner, it's only in the suite.

There are people saying that it's still possible to reinstall the 1y free trial AV as long as you use their own removal tool after it is regularly uninstalled through Windows add/remove apps. However I can't vouch for that, I removed it but I have not tried to put it again so I can continue the testing of the IS beta (I have a regular license for this version).
I *might* try to reinstall the trial-AV just for 'testing' purposes once the next beta (or final, probably) build is released. But if you ask me, I feel this newer IS 2014 much much lighter than 2013-AV, despite of being a "full" suite.

Surprising, because the AV is light as a feather on my machine. Heck, it actually concerns me that I never notice the damn thing.

That being said, I might try the beta out. It's looking like I might have to reinstall Windows anyways due to a networking issue, so I can try the beta, see if I like it, then wipe everything. if the trial doesn't work again, I'd have no issue going to Avast, or even testing out some 6 month trials.

    Let's go then ;)

It seems the beta is very close to final anyway.
