I wonder if there is a chance that the wireless mouse is causing this... One thing we can maybe try... Reset your settings to Default Settings in Settings / About. If you do not have a usb drive plugged in, then switch to smart mode and see if you get the initial USB prompt that asks you if you want to activate VS in smart mode if a usb drive is detected. This will help us figure out if that is what is causing it. Thank you!

Yeah, it is definitely possible, what color should we make it if we decide to change the color? Thank you!

Also, for anyone running Outlook, especially with several addons... keep in mind, Outlook likes to kind of start and stop at random times in the background, so that might be the issue.

I would say when VS turns blue unexpectedly, I would start the task manager and see what web browsers or email clients might be running. That would explain it.

Very cool, and I am happy it is loading fast! I did not realize that you were still having that issue, or I would have made it more of a priority!

I have an app that syncs my calendar in outlook, and from what I remember, VS will turn blue while that is running, but will turn red again once it is done syncing. Thanks again!

BTW, I just released 1.25. It is pretty much identical to the version that you guys are running, except you will want to update to the release version, otherwise it will prompt you to update.

There will obviously be a few more small bug fixes in the next version, but 1.25 is a great version. I really appreciate everyone's help, thank you!

Then we have a few big things to do soon, then we will all go to Vegas ;).

I reset VS's settings back to default, but I did not have the wireless mouse adapter unplugged from the USB. VS began in learning mode, but I switched it to Smart Mode after about 30 seconds. VS's is behaving like it is in Smart Mode now. It's protection was disabled since I did not have any application open or anything plugged into the USB connector except for my wireless mouse. VS did not ask me anything about enabling USB protection after switching back to smart mode.

Was you wanting me to change VS's settings back to default with the USB mouse connector unplugged from the USB? I read your post again, and I think I may have misunderstood you the first time I read it

Btw... I did not have this problem before, and I have been using the same mouse for about 6 months.

Well, pretty much exactly what you did... but once VS is in smart mode (and OFF since there a no web apps running), can you plug in your usb mouse receiver to see if that is triggering VS to turn on? If it is, it will prompt you with the initial USB prompt, and turn blue. I am just trying to rule out the USB wireless mouse as the cause of this issue.

Edit: by the way, the activation with the browser changed slightly early in V1.25. I basically optimized it so it activates faster, so VS reacts to a web app different in this version compared to older versions.

I unplugged my USB mouse from the USB connector, and reset VS's settings to default. VS restart, and began in training mode. I switched VS to Smart Mode after a few seconds. Then I plugged my mouse adapter back into the USB connector. VS did not alert me to anything. VS's protection stayed disabled as it should.

VS is working for now. I will keep a close eye on it to see if I can figure out whats causing this. Does VS use an XML file to save it's settings to? Seems like something could be causing VS's policy file to become corrupted.

Cool, thank you... just like I said in the pm... I think the best thing to do is to wait until VS activates unexpectedly, and then take a screen shot of the task manager and send it to me. Especially now that we know it is not anything USB. Thanks again!
