Since its your software to begin with,,,,,,if you like DeltaRestore then thats what it should be. ...... You have my vote for DeltaRestore on this basis.

    Baldrick,

I'm so sorry, it seems I can't modify the poll once it's created. I was sure I would be able to. This is the first time I tried creating a poll, sorry...

    bgoodman,

Thank you, but please vote for what you like, I assume that's the main purpose of this poll.

    Rainwalker,

Looks like it can't format the USB stick. Please try to unplug and plug again, maybe it's in use. It should be FAT32.

OK..Thanks Isso..I was thinking FAT32....tried another stick that would format to FAT32 and I have it now.

Comment related to selecting a name for the two processes of restoring deleted by poster. Moved to the poll page, tho I suspect people may do the poll first and read the comments/suggestions later, which will effectively nullify the possibilities of taking into consideration any of the comments posted below the poll, lol...

I've never encountered a program that has been put together with the incredibly high degree of user participation as is happening here with Ax64. I'm amazed by Isso's patience, open-mindedness, and the amount of work he's putting in this to make it the very best program he can. This is definitely more than just some programming happening here, it's like a living thing, evolving from the inter-connected matrix of grey matter of a hundred minds, lol.

I hope Isso is able to be having half as much fun doing this as I suspect all of US are participating and seeing what evolves from this effort! Whether it actually qualifies as "fun" or not may be debatable for Isso, but it sure as heck is something that he and his team should be very proud of.

I ran a defrag windows and immediately AXTM.
No problem. AXTM seemed to freeze the windows defragmentation, backup and performed his free defragmentation to its full implementation.
    What stability. Congratulations!

my two cents.....thinking about the name thing...I think "Rewind" is simple and to the point or "AX-Rewind" might be even better.

Currently experiencing a problem with missing backups. Have noticed this a few times but previously just deleted the backup directory and started again. However, since no one else appears to be experiencing the problem and it has continued through a number of versions, I thought it about time I raised it.

First I want to make sure I'm working with a supported setup. I have 2 machines doing hourly backups to the same network directory. Should this work or is there a potential for a conflict in files stored in the directory that would cause occasional failures of one machine or the other?

Previously IIRC each machine will occasionally miss a backup, however, at the moment it appears that one machine hasn't successfully backed up for almost 3 days.

Have also attached some recent log files from the machine that failed to backup.

Rebooted the machine with the missing backups and it appears to have cleaned up and recommenced backing up as expected. Seems to imply the problem might be unrelated to multiple machines accessing the network directory at the same time. Updated log file attached.

    Dearest Isso,

Can you please send me a 25% discount coupon for a family license. I want to buy this and give this as a gift to my friend.

You have my email address, so please send the discount coupon to my email address.

Since I will be paying for this and using my credit card with my name, therefore is it possible to have the license issued in his name?

    Best regards,

    Mohamed

Would be nice if the snapshots list could be organized a bit better, and when hovering the mouse pointer to a specific snapshot, it would show detailed information about the snapshot eg. description written prior to making the backup. (or you could right click on the snapshot, and there would be an option "show snapshot description" ..)
also, it's a bit irritating when writing the backup description, if you press enter, it starts to take the snapshot, instead of going to the next line where you could continue on writing the description for the snapshot..

Now about the mentioned ideas for snapshotting...
Cold and Hot sounds the best so far to my oldish ears.. :)
    How about "snapstore" technology ?

I have brought this up before and been put down because you can use Ctrl/Enter to make a new line, but I agree that it is un-natural to do it this way. Other imaging programs manage to do this the conventional way. So Isso please look at this again.

Hi, Isso, from your newest fan / customer. :)
Just finished reading all these posts. All 3,567 of them. >whew<

Congratulations on a remarkable achievement. The way you respond to user input and describe the progress of development gives me great faith that this software will work great for a long time. Super job. Thank you.

This software will replace my old trusty Powershadow app for the OSs after winxp.

I intend to buy a one time license, and would like to know if a discount is still available for the family pack?

A couple of questions, if I may.
    - Is the chkdsk issue fixed yet?
    - Will TDL4 / TDSS type rootkits be discarded when restoring a clean snapshot?
    - Is the restored MBR the one that was on that system at the time of the snapshot?

And a suggestion, if I may make so bold. For a not-too-tekkie mortal like me, the restore options make good sense when called:
    "AXRestore Hot, With Windows Running"
    and
    "AXRestore Cold, From Boot Media"
And there is your trademark, maybe. :)

Quick question as ISSO seems to be away for a deserved break! ;)

I did a 2nd manual backup and it was a 1GB instead of the 34GB of the first. So, I had thought a manual backup would do a full again. If my drive failed, and I bought a new one, would I do a restore of the 1GB second backup and would it then pull in the 34GB first backup?

Also, how can I do a manual backup and get a new file with the FULL image? I thought a manual backup would make a full image but I guess not.

One way I have found to do that is to rename the AXTM folder, but you will lose the incremental ability on the first backup. So the new one you make will be able to make incrementals. At least that is the way I understand it.

    Quick Question

After some significant computer issues, which I won't go into here, I was finally able to install AX64 and am right now making my first backup with it.

Are there any issues with AX64 and Process Lasso, TinyFirewall, or Sandboxie?

Looking forward to trying out this product I've read so much about lately.

MSPAN, all backups (manual or automatic) are only incremental backups... that's why the first one is a FULL ('cause no previous backup is available, an incremental from NONE).

AX64 TM will restore whatever is necessary to get you to the snapshot point in time you have selected for restoration... basically YES to your question.

The only way to get a new FULL image is to delete all the old ones (this will change in the near future). To save what you have and create a new FULL image, you should RENAME your existing AXTM backup folder to something else, then create a new empty AXTM folder. The next time you run AXTM it will see an empty folder and create a new FULL backup in that folder.

You can always reference any of your backup folders when restoring just by picking a different folder for the restore (available in the browser). Isso's team will offer much more flexibility in the very near future.

Login123, Item #1... according to the status of this issue on Isso's site, ChkDisk issue was fixed in Build 1096.

Item #2... if the snapshot you are restoring was not infected AND you select the MBR for restoration (in the ADVANCED button), the path to the infection will have been removed.

    Item #3... Yes.

Bonjour, mon ami! Just remember, when you defrag your AXTM protected disk, it will cause the next incremental snapshot to be larger than it needs to be... this due to the reorganization of the disk blocks done by the defrag. AXTM TM manages changes in these disk blocks, not file content changes. A defrag will not change the content but definitely will change the block organization.
