    Hi Isso

IMHO if you go for 'Hot' for within OS I think that you also have to use 'Cold' for external from OS...as Froggie suggested...just to keep it consistent.

    Hi Baldrick,

Sure, I totally agree that those need to be used together.

    Isso,

I went ahead and restored the backup from the old partition and it worked. As you said it only wrote the partition and not the entire drive. The Windows side works fine. Mac though will not mount the windows drive because it sees it corrupt. At least that's what happened the first go around. I am trying different things to see what happens. I have tried setting up a new partition in the Mac Disk utility then restoring. When I come back to the Mac it mounts the drive but shows it as it was when I shutdown Mac Os to go restore the image. The Mac does not see what is actually on the drive. It sees it as FAT32 and empty instead of how Windows sees it as NTFS with the Windows OS on it. Any ideas? Thanks

    Nooo!
Isso it's your technology/invention... just give it a new name.
eg. AX Restore, or D.O. Restore (DO= differencies only), or A.S. Restore (AS= advanced sector)... ;)

It seems that AX64 treated the drive as MBR instead of GPT (with hybrid mbr).

    BootCamp is an hybrid GPT/MBR.

    dwhutch,

Sorry for this problem. I'll see if we can fix it. However there is one more problem that I haven't taken into account - if you modify the NTFS partition from Mac OS, AX64 may not notice the changes and subsequent backups may become corrupted. Again, I haven't tested it with Mac, so I'm not sure, but with some Linux versions that was the case.
I'll test and check this, and Mac partition table too. Thank you

    Panagiotis,

That's a great idea, thank you! I was thinking to give it a name (a trademark), but didn't have time to take care of it. I'll think about it.

I think whatever you choose should be instantly understandable to users.

Wilders-type tech names may be understandable here, but not perhaps by the general public, and

they are the people that we want to buy this software in order to keep it going for all of us to use.

    Hi Stapp,

    Very true!

Thus, "Recover (restore) from within Windows Operating System"

    Best regards,

I think that on balance Panagiotis is basically correct. :D

However, as always ready to chip in...so working on that theme...what about just Differences Restore & Full Restore?

Thank you Mohamed, but I think this is too long to be frequently used. I like Fire and Ice, but I would prefer some kind of tech name like Intel TurboBoost, or PerfectDisk OptiWrite...

    What about DiffRestore?

    Just to be clear here,

Isso are you taking about a name to call the program based restore? (as opposed to the disc based restore)

As in difficult restore? Probably not what you want to convey. ;) Also reminds me of an old Pepsi marketing campaign of the 80's: "What's the diff?"

I can see a logo combining the words Rescue and Restore.

TurboRestore. RapidRestore. TimeTravelRestore (to keep in line with Time Machine product name)

I like it. Now you need a cross-licensing deal with the studio that just released the Turbo movie. ;)

Not a problem, I'm pretty sure they'll agree to show AX64 advertisement at the beginning of their movie. In turn I'll display their trailer on our website :)

    Dearest Isso,

I see what you mean. You want a term rather than a description.

    How about SnapRestore.

The above has double meaning. It Restores Snapshots. And, it Restores them in a Snap!

    Best regards,

    Mohamed
