I honestly cannot find anything annoying about this product. It does what it says and very well. I have seen the web filter in action for both malware and phishing sites. Looks like this one is a keeper.

I believe it's a bug that will be fixed by Q360 soon.

This one is just too good to be true. Call me paranoid, but I think they are trying to gather a large enough user base and raise reputation before embedding some toolbars / adwares into 360 IS to generate revenue.

We don't know, we can't be sure..But considering the way those new chinese things were abandoned lately...
We'll see in a few months if this 360 IS free is still gonna be alive.

I think you are very paranoid. I highly doubt that will happen, and I'd never even considered it till you brought it up.

I am never paranoid when it comes to computer security and security software.

Guess so, for the time being I will just recommend this one to as many people as I know :D

Well is has 3 engines, one of them is the top-notch Bitdefender. It is light, fast. Detection rate is great. Bugs are minimal. It offers no toolbar / adware during installation. And to top it all it is free for even business users.

How on earth are they making revenue with all that?

Are you sure? Last time I read the License it was free only for non-commercial use.

English interview with Qihoo vice president:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=beTaIfFdCtA

He says they like the "freemium" model; they basically say they want to gain a certain degree of notoriety with free products, and then offer premium services like online storage and security support.

The Chinese website features many, many other products as well:

Few days ago I asked their support, and they said that I can install this software in my company (police)

If I want to disable HIPS, am I right in assuming that I just have to disable everything except File Protection under Proactive Defense?

When I install 360 for other people I want HIPS disabled, as they may end of blocking something they shouldn't. Also, I think I would prefer not to use it myself, as you only have a limited amount of time to choose to allow an action. This is fine if I'm using my computer at the time, but not so good when I'm away from the computer, and for example software or drivers are installing.

Am I only one whose first update takes a while? After installation, database date is 24th July 2013. I've installed it in 3 machines and all of them are updating slowly (number of minutes).

Otherwise, I like the simplicity and protection it offers. I just hope it will be true 'set and forget' solution (no manual upgrades etc).

By the way,QVM2 engine is amazing!! I just grabbed like a brand new fresh malware from clean-mx.It was skype malware, see: ~Virus Total link removed per Policy~

AV engine missed it...but when I tried to move the file or execute it in VM 360 IS said "HEUR/Malware.QVM10" and quarantined it.

    WOW!! "MASTER CLASS" :D

In settings, QVM2 is disabled for on-access protection. Does it have lots of FPs or why it's disabled, anyone?

I guess because QVM2 is included in cloud engine for real time protection because when I try to execute or move the file 360 IS picks it up and says its detected by QVM2 engine as HEUR/Malware.QVM5 (yeah it wasnt QVM10,my bad, they have different detection names LOL)

The same unfounded accusations posted before in this thread.:cautious:

Even if they were true, you don't have any competitor's software on your computer for them to uninstall, and they don't offer any other English software either.

I was more concerned with them stealing my data, and placing backdoors in there software so they have secret access to my stuff without my knowledge. I really like the look of the software don't get me wrong, but there is a part in that article where a former hacker who now runs a non profit states how he observed Q360's browser placing dll's on his system in a secret way.

The browser, not the English version of 360 antivirus.

Yes but it's the same company and my concern is are they using the same ethics? I'm not slating Q360 here, I have 360 internet security in my download folder ready to try. But that article has worried me a bit if I'm honest.

There's no evidence that the English 360 does anything or the sort, or that they would even want to do the same in the international market.

yeah but just 2 years ago Kelly Higgins with Dark Reading wrote about Mr. Wan Tao and said,"Richard Bejtlich, chief security officer and vice president at Mandiant, says the document appears to be an effort by Wei and Tao to announce their new phase as good guys. "I am torn over what I think that [document] might be [for]. Most likely, it's recognition of a personal journey for those guys. They were each a founder of a large hacking community," he says. "I think this is how they are evolving their careers and business interests ... an attempt by these guys to put an element of legitimacy to their businesses. They are probably trying to do legitimate business, but they have this history of being malicious hackers.
