Smart phones with large displays are a norm now a days. Not long ago, I thought that 3.5 inch screen is ideal a smart phone, I used iPhone4S that time. I thought any thing bigger than this is too big and not handy. Later when I used phones with larger displays, I did notice that bigger screens are much more comfortable for surfing, file management etc. I then thought 4-4.5 inch as an ideal size. After suing a phone 4 inch screen, now |I really feel that the ideal size of a smart phone display is 4.5-5 inch( preferably 5). Any thing bigger than this is a phablet and not so convenient. What do you thin? Pls post your comments.
I really think anything above 5-5.5 is just unnecessary and counter-productive. You're not supposed to look like you're holding an "N-Gage" against your head. Save the large real estate for actual productivity devices.
For me its around 5". IMO the phone size is more important, if they manage to squeeze out more screen real estate from current flagships, then im all for it but if the frame has to be wider and taller then forget it. Current flagships barely fit in my pocket and are not comfortable to carry around.
I have a 3.7 inch and it seems too small. I would like to have the new Samsung Galaxy Mega in either 5.8 inch or 6.3 inch.
I think that a smart phone should be able to slide into your shirt pocket, and any thing bigger is luggage that you have to lug around.
I know someone with a Samsung Galaxy Note II, and it (in a case) just barely fits in his shirt pocket. That would make a 5.5 inch the maximum.
I voted 4 - 4.5. My last phone had a 4" screen and my current phone has a 4.3" screen. Having said that, I am going to replace my current phone soon as it suffers from really bad reception on one of the 3G bands, which is an issue when I travel, and I may replace if a 5" phone. I am hesitant to go for a phablet yet as I think I may find the size too big. But I haven't ruled it out, as the cost is the same as for 5" phone. I remember when a friend first got his Galaxy S2, and I thought it was too big. My current phone is slightly larger than the S2, which goes to show that you do get used to the larger screen sizes. My old Motorola Defy with a 3.7" screen really does seem tiny these days.
Have you tried a phone with a bigger screen? I used to think like that but after using bigger phones i just cant use smaller screens.
I read tablet size starts from 5 inches so smartphone end size is 5. 5 inches is ideal, neither too big nor too small & good from browsing to watching videos to anything. Why the manufacturers leave so much space on top & bottom of the screen? And I think front of the phone should have nothing, all the info like name & logo should be on the back. HTC one looks so good, I dont like HTC name & other 2 tabs or sign on the screen.
I used to own an S2 and after changing to my current phone i can't go back. Web browsing and games are sooooooooooooooo much better.
Yeah I love big screen phones. But not the phablet size screens. I just can't imagine going back to smaller screen sized phones.
I second that, sometimes I remember my old Nokia 8210. It's no smart phone but it was so small, wonderful.
Yes, i borrowed friends larger cell phones. I placed it in my jeans and it's uncomfortable. It gets especially uncomfortable when you are trying to sit down or lean forward.
I cut out plastic in the sizes of the smartphone from 4.5 inches to 5.5, played with them for two weeks daily. Above 5.0 I dropped most times, not scientific, but I decided on 4.5 to S.0 best.
I'm really happy with my new Galaxy S3 clone I received in the mail today, which has a 4.7" screen. The screen is large without seeming excessively large, and is a nice upgrade from my 4.3" phone.
