Do I need an Antivirus with Malwarebytes PRO?

Hey all,

I was just wondering if I need to keep an AntiVirus running now that I purchased MalwarebytesPro. They both have real-time protection, and was wondering if they conflict with each other, or it is fine to have both running.

While MBAM is a fine piece of software, it will not stop lots of viruses. However it will block a lot of malware that your AV will miss.So both is best.

One last thing, if it's still enabled by default, untick the option to automatically quarantine threats detected by the protection module. Due to a recent false alarm MBAM quarantines hundreds of files, bricking many machines.

Thanks for the replies! Good to know. Now time to make a decision on which A/V to purchase. So many mixed reviews about them; I don't really believe the comparative tests, I feel like they are trying to promote a product(s). Any suggestions on a good A/V purchase would be appreciated.

I strongly believe AV comparatives is fair , comprehensive and independant http://www.av-comparatives.org/
That said , if you want to spend your pennies , check out Sandboxie.Not an AV , but a unique piece of software, that can protect your machine to the max. Of course there is a free version, that is perfectly adequate, check it out http://www.sandboxie.com/
If your insistent on buying an AV , use the trials first, to test out compatability

 

No need to purchase any antivirus.
Free also works well
U can choose something from Avg Mse or avast.
I use personally avast free which seems that has very good detection rates in zero day threats (version with malwarebytes pro and i have no problems with them.

 

The tests are very good. You can use all the different tests to find general trends in which products are best at the current time.

Lately, Bitdefender, Trend, Kaspersky, Emsisoft and F-Secure seem to do consistently well across multiple testing organizations.

 

Good suggestions and recommendations! I think for the time being I may stick with Avira Free, since others are arguing it offers almost the same features as Paid.

But keep the comments coming, i'd love to purchase a product that deserves it!
