Yes Shadow, Tony used to post on the old forum so I believe it's a matter of choice or inability and I'm not 100% convinced that it's the latter.

This has been the most appalling developer usership communication fiasco imaginable.
The latest chapter of this conspiracy of silence, fait accompli and attempt at a coup d'état makes me question both participants integrity and worthiness of any sort of support.

I felt tired before reading the whole debate. I saw the post on facebook and even sent the PM requesting a giveaway license, I then came here to see if there was any info as to who was running the fan page and the giveaway... and then I saw all this.

I too, feel Patrick is being mistreated by both 'Tony' and Cyberman. And now, I kind of feel suspicious about the enthusiasm in marketing shown by Cyberman.

As a long time user, I still stick with version 1.1.0.325.
I've never believed the story about Tony's 'comeback'. I haven't bought a license after the supposed 'comeback'.

Cyberman, you'll se my PM on facebook. Please, dismiss it. Sorry.

As you can tell, I am a very infrequent poster here. I sometimes lurk, but have maybe posted 5 times. I have never before been to this thread.

As someone who knows and understands the concerns about FB; especially the privacy concerns, but who also came to this forum tonight because of the FB promotion, I am very saddened by what I've just read!

Obviously, I am a newbie to this forum and to SD. I've heard and read great things about this software. I'm very excited to be able to try it out and use it.

As an innocent bystander, I am again very saddened by what I just read. I read about 2 very passionate people who care deeply about a product and have given much of themselves to promote and support a great product. Yes, there are differences of opinion. Again, I don't know the history, but my hope is that these 2 individuals who both very deeply care about this product can mend their disagreement, agree to disagree, and work together for a common cause--the promotion and support of an apparent great software product.

I guess I have to agree with the following post:

My previous posts say everything that needs to be said on the matter, and I do not wish to be involved in a pointless argument again. People should read and make us their own minds...

I'm sorry to have to say this, but I find your remark insulting. I have slept 4 hour only last night, setting all this up. This is a cheap blow below the belt Atomo..

I'm just about to say 'screw this, why do I bother...' I REALLY don't need the extra hassle!

'I REALLY don't need the extra hassle!'

    Serves you right, really.

I'm a friend of Patricks IRL and a nicer guy you could never meet. He has been totally loyal to SD for years and put a lot of effort into keeping SD's reputation up where it belongs, even during the whole Tony-disappearance debacle, when anyone could justifiably have felt their loyalty waver.

He'll probably be annoyed that I've stuck my nose in like this but I have to say he's upset by all this, rightly, in my opinion. For all this to occur, completely out of the blue and without any communication, is appalling. And yes, I believe Patrick - this is the first time he's heard anything about the Facebook page, when it's already a fait accompli.

If this is the way Tony feels is right to treat loyal supporters, particularly after disappearing for so long without explanation, then he shouldn't be surprised to lose them.

I have asked Tony many times in the past to talk to Patrick, and I have the e-mails to prove it. Patrick himself knows about this.

I can't force someone to do something they don't want to do, and communicating with Tony is not easy at best! It's so easy and comfortable to judge and pass sentence when you're not involved and you got no idea of the ins and outs of this story.

The only fact that is worth anything anymore, is that 500 new people will now be using SD and enjoy safer computing because of the Facebook promotion! It is not my freakin' fault that Tony didn't want to speak to Patrick (for reasons that only Tony knows - he has not shared anything on the subject). So, lets stop treading over burned ground and lets all get on with our lives shall we??

As I've said before, it is plain to see what is going on here "but at the length truth will out".

Is it safe to use the free edition of winpatrol to delay the startup of shadowdefender?

I'm not sure but your first port of call might be to email supportatshadowdefender.com

or maybe members on The Official Shadow Defender Forum might know.

    Best wishes

    Patrick

    Hi atomomega
The [your] license is a lifetime one, no need to buy a new one to update [upgrade] to a newer version of SD.

    Take Care

Re: Shadow defender, How good is it?

Would it be advised and safe to ditch my antivirus altogether when in constant shadow mode?

I also have sandboxie and im safe when it comes to browsing so i feel the av may not be needed.

Re: Shadow defender, How good is it?

It would not be advisable to rely solely on Shadow Mode as the only layer, but it is perfectly viable to use light virtualization without real-time antivirus, providing that the light virtualization is supplemented with system-wide anti-execution, HIPS, or policy restriction. You already have the means to do this with Comodo Defense+, plus Sandboxie for additional containment of high risk applications, so you could optionally safely drop the antivirus if you wanted to with your setup. (That's not a recommendation either way, just an answer to the question.)

If you dont mind me asking, which exclusions have you made for avast within shadow defender?
That is assuming you are running shadow defender always on of course.

    Thanks.

Re: Shadow defender, How good is it?

I do run with Shadow Mode always on, except for regular maintenance slots where I exit Shadow Mode to apply system updates.

I excluded the defs sub-folder within the avast! Program Files folder and the avast! settings folder within the All Users profile in order to enable the avast! definition updates to be preserved across reboots.

Some people prefer not to have any exclusions so that avast! downloads the definition updates again when the system is rebooted. It works equally well either way; it's just a matter of individual preference.
