Basing off of my own experiences, I say 360 Internet Security is quite light and responsive.

    Sitting idle:

While doing tasks in the system:

    While updating:

    While performing a Full Scan:

These percentages and sizes do fluctuate, but are always in acceptable ranges.

I'm only using IE 10 so can't comment on Maxthon but all four versions of the eicar file were blocked instantly here

I thought being chinese, 360 or QIHOO would provide protection for China's second biggest browser MAXTHON?

They've fixed the updating issue, now it updates automatically once or twice a day. The antivirus and proactive detection are very good.

It's been said before, it has 2 cloud-based engines, Bitdefender engine updates twice (sometimes once) a day, but that's ok. You should be fine as long as you have an active internet connection

This 360 AV is created something of a milestone in my camp. By now and with every single commercial and free AV, i would have found something to fuss about or else my system would became noticeably sluggish or false positives would rub against my better judgment.

I have had nothing but positive results all the way around with Qihoo and because of this product alone, i now harbor no reservations against running an AV resident now 24/7.

Somebody finally came up with one that works without fudging up your normal system balance.

Running / testing it with Online Armor free on my notebook.
Seems to be compatible and running light.

It simply can't be ignored how efficient that the Chinese do push the limits for what can be realized when it comes to windows security.

Qihoo 360 brings another new innovation to light!

When classical HIPS first made it's mark on the security scene, it forced all AV vendors to take notice. HIPS was a formidable technique that closed the gap where AV's were weakest.

China made EQSysecure HIPS was end user friendly, (like 360), highly configurable, and lite as a feather while at the same time proving invaluable to stopping cold any and most all other forced interruptions and unknowns. You could make your.own rulesets that all but ended any malware, effectively rendering them useless and of no account.

What i wouldn't give to see a resurrection of that program again or even a rewrite of the EQSysecure driver to accommodate x64 bit systems. Even if they left the rest of the program as is when it was abandoned.

Point being the Chinese might not have the whole corner on new security innovations for windows, but Qihoo 360 goes a long way in proving once again that they continue to field extremely talented & efficient coders in this global field.

I don't care what others think or any harsh opinions on this and that which have absolutely no bearing whatsoever on this program's full and proven efficiency.

Indeed. It's a welcome relief that just like EQSysecure this innovative Qihoo 360 Triple AV w/ Proactive Security is FREE! with no strings attached. I think that alone deserves a lot of positive recognition in their favor in a global market more geared to satisfying the greedy.

Not sure whether to post this here in the Shadow Defender section.

I have tried to install 360 Security Suite in Shadow Mode so that I can try it out but I keep getting a pop-up from Qihu telling me that it recognises I have Shadow Defender installed, that running the two together will result in system instability and do I want to Qihu to uninstall Shadow Defender. The only options I am given are "OK" or "Cancel".

Shadow Defender can't run a programme in Shadow Mode? Qihu 360 knows it's being virtualised?

Don't hold me to this but i think that notice has to do with avoiding possible conflicts with some other 360 modules that in the English version i use don't appear to be active anyway.

I ignored it since ShadowDefender is on my machine and i been using it WITH SD with no issues at all.

The best of both worlds. I can enter ShadowDefender mode with Qihoo 360 running and the protection is just as stable as if SD wasn't there.

Thanks Easter but unfortunately Qihoo 360 doesn't give me the option of ignoring the notice. I can either select "OK" in which case it indicates it will uninstall Shadow Defender, or select "Cancel" which voids the installation.

EASTER meant he installed Qihoo 'outside' shadow mode. What you are trying to do is not possible. 360 can't be installed while in shadow mode.

    Exactly.

You could even uninstall SD yourself manually then after installing 360 Security reinstall it and 360 won't so much as make a peep.

I already tested both ways last month. Good Luck and Enjoy!

That's interesting. I have never had a problem downloading and running any other programme in Shadow Mode so I am surprised that I can't do the same with Qihoo 360, especially as one of the main purposes of Shadow Defender is enable the testing of programmes which don't require a reboot.

As a matter of interest what is it about Qihoo 360 in particular that makes it impossible to download in Shadow Mode and would this apply to all light virtualization systems such as Toolwiz Timefreeze?

If the problem is specific to Shadow Defender I'll have to consider ditching it for something like Returnil or Timefreeze if it's going to be selective about which programmes it can and can't launch in Shadow Mode.

The only issue I have with this excellent software is that it will not let me change the default task manager to my paid for AnVir Pro. I get an 'access denied' error when trying to do so. I finally backed up the original taskmgr.exe and put a copy of AnVir in the windows\system32 directory and renamed it to taskmgr.exe and now I get AnVir as my default task manager. As for the effectiveness of 360 it seems to be quite light and fast scanning and is able to get all of the test files I throw at it. I also now use the mobile version on one of my phones. :)

Does this AV work for all user accounts on a computer?

Yes Bigwrench9. I have a WSA Complete three year license so it's not going anywhere. I love it. I did a disk image first and then installed Qihoo 360 and other than asking if I wanted to leave or uninstall WSA, it installed beautifully. I excluded one from the other so no conflicts. No BSOD's or lock ups and smooth sailing for three weeks now.

This Qihoo product is remarkable in so many ways, as EASTER has attested to. The thing that took me by surprise is that my boot times did not change by even a second from what they were with WSA installed all by itself. WSA is a great choice all by itself, but it is a complementary AV, too, and on my system these two are a dream together. Not a peep out of either one except when I threw some malware at them. I am using the Windows 7 Firewall with WSA lording over all outbound connections. I have the WSA Firewall control set to "Warn if any process connects to the internet unless explicitly allowed". That way I can control myself what I will allow in each instance. This is the kind of security I have been looking for, for years, and couldn't find. My system does not feel bogged down, boot times are fast, and not a single piece of malware got by either of these two.
