Well, "hiding" implies intention. And as to "4 mb while scanning 3 mb idle" that's unrealistically low for any AV.

I think he meant 30 and 40mb lol.

Nope but now its showing bd.exe at 29mb..so 33mb altogether

Well I've never seen my BDAV+ run at 3 and 4mb

    I know..it wasn't showing Bd.exe before..what did 2013 average?

I think it was around 40mb but I can't be sure my memory is terrible lol.

Yes, when I used it in the past most of its processes were below 10MB but system.exe sometimes went over 100MB. Again - I think the best way to determine the RAM usage is seeing it before and after the installation not only of Bitdefender but of any other AV or IS as well. I think you'll be surprised by some so called "light" AVs.

Ram usage was important in the past, but on multi-gigabyte systems it would have to go very high to have an impact on performance IMHO. I think it's more important to look at disk I/O.

Agreed, Plus CPU usage though :)

    Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2014

How do you disable 'scheduled' scanning?

    Thanks in Advance.

Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2014 on Windows 8 64 bit Standard

I do not have any scheduled scan tasks. However, I will sometimes get a message that Bitdefender has started a scan. I want ALL of my Bitdefender scans to be Manual. How do I Turn Off ALL Automatic Bitdefender Scans? I still want the normal 'Active' Protection, but not want any 'Automatic' scans.

    Thanks in Advance.

    Hello,

    Have you turned off "Autoscan"?

    Thank you.

I just turned off Autoscan, and now Bitdefender shows this: "Autoscan is disabled. Your computer is at risk." If I leave Autoscan turned off, do I still have the normal Antivirus 'Active' type of protection?

You are still fully protected if you turn off autoscan. There is a notification setting that you can set to off so that you do not receive the 'computer is at risk' message. You will still receive an alert if realtime protection is turned off. I don't have a computer near me with BD on it right now so I can't give an exact location of the notification settings.

    Look here... maybe?
settings -> general -> advanced -> configure status alerts

I ran into some issues after upgrading to the latest version which otherwise runs nicely. I am not sure if the problem is related to BD, so I would welcome any feedback.

Neither AX64 nor Keriver seem to work with Bitdefender on my Win7 pc - Isso confirmed that some security program prevented the image to be written (and asked which programs I use ) . I was testing AX64 and when this did not work and I had some other unrelated issues, I reverted back to an earlier state using an image I had taken with Keriver before upgrading Bitdefender. Now, after bringing back that image to the latest state with MS patches and BD to 2014, it seems Keriver no longer can take images either.

Anyone noticed the same ? Any way to disable the BD temporarily for taking an image to test if this is the culprit?

Most of the time if I have a problem with Bitdefender I have found Active Virus Control to be at fault. You could try turning off active virus control and see if it will help. I have found that turning off AVC also requires a reboot even though there is no prompt. At least it did when my problem was occurring. Turn AVC back on once you have narrowed down the problem. Also, adding process exclusions may help.

Does anyone know if BD has incorporated the option for how the user will respond to a security risk? It always bugged me that I had no choice as to how I would like to respond in both 2012 and 2013 versions. Thanks!

    WARNING!

We've just been told today that Bitdefender will be following Kaspersky's lead from 1 August.

All NEW codes purchased after 1 August will be IP restricted. A code bought from a particular territory will only activate within that territory. For instance, a code bought from the States, will only work in the States.

If you are considering buying a Bitdefender 2014 code, we'd seriously recommend buying and activating your code....NOW!

Would using a VPN to a Server in the proper country get around this problem?

How would this work if you were working away from you home country for a while, or if you took your laptop on holiday? I'm assuming for the period you was away you'd have no protection on your laptop.

Presumably only an issue at time of software activation? Where you go after that surely no matter?
