in China, about 400 million people use 360 softwares

 

I am a Chinese, and in my opinion, Kingsoft is going to be Baidu and Tencent's tool to strive against Qihoo. Kingsoft is declining

Rt- Tencent certainly isn't only a microblogger, but they are best known in the West for Tencent Weibo and not QQ, nor gaming, nor WeChat. With 7 billion USD of revenue last year they are certainly diversified.

And Tencent was also involved in the slander war in Internet China. Qihoo accused Tencent QQ (this is an Instant Messaging Client, and I think it is still number 1 in China) of leaking users' private data, and then launched privacy protection software targeting QQ. Tencent sued for slander and the courts agreed, noting that Qihoo's accusations of Tencent for spying on users' privacy "is not in line with the facts". Point being don't take slander as fact in regard to these companies.

But bringing this back to computer security, with Tencent, Baidu and Qihoo all really hating each other, I really can't see Kingsoft working much longer with Baidu especially as Tencent has a big chunk of Kingsoft's stock.

(Guess I should mention that Qihoo360 is absolutely superb. It is certainly far superior at this point than Baidu, and actually outperforms most better known AM products)

I've seen the Chinese version for a long time but there was always a 'scary' problem with it that stopped me trying it.. I don't read Chinese

The English version has been running superbly on my old laptop for the last 2 weeks.
I like the way it alerts me to new startup items
It removed the legitimate 'autorun.inf' from my NavMan before I could uncheck "USB Protection".

 

Could someone answer my questions please?

1. Since it's an Internet Security, do other firewalls work with it, such as Online Armor?

2. Does it require the Chrome extension for web blocking? Would Bitdefender TrafficLight conflict?

 

I know some who are using Qihoo with OA to good effect, and I have it on a test machine with the firewall component of Symantec Endpoint active.

I really don't know what add-on you are talking about. On my XP machine, it didn't install anything else other than the AV itself. I've seen the downlowad protection kick-in automatically after a download completes.
If you mean a webfilter, then it doesn't seem to have one.

 

Well after installing I went into Chrome, and Chrome said a third-party wanted to install an extension, and asked if I wanted to let it. I did and it was some Qihoo extension.

 

I cannot install this software on a Windows Vista 64-Bit machine

 

Vista x64 is dying thus, some soft could not be compatible such as OA...

 

According to Softpedia, 64 bit support is for XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8, but not Vista.

I don't know why they would not support Vista 64, when they support 64 bit XP.

 

Does Qihoo 360 IS, version 4.1.0, Updated June 30, 2013 fix the Security/Action Center listing under Spyware and Unwanted Programs?

Basically does it properly register itself now, or no?

 

I run Qihoo for almost a week along with Zonealarm free firewall - extremely light combo,without any BSODs or other problems I had with bitdefender free antivirus and far better than avast/privatefirewall combo I had. Just one thing I wish would be different - bitdefender engine updates virus database only once per day.

360 is running faultlessly here combined with MBAM Pro and Outpost Pro Firewall on Win8 x64
The last couple of days I've been receiving the BD signature updates twice a day so I guess it depends on what has been discovered and whether its worth pushing out extra signatures or Qihoo are optimising there release schedule

TyRidian the spyware recognition in the action centre has not yet been activated but a recent email I received from Qihoo say's this feature will be activated very soon

 

Is there a detailed explanation in English regarding the 3 engines and what each does?

 

Not in English that I know of but you can always use a translator and read the official Qihoo website as the English website supplies no details whatsoever other than links to there social webpages

In short you have the 360 cloud engine which detects against multiple instances.

There is the QVM engine which is heuristics,

And the Bitdefender engine which is similar in detection rate to the 360 cloud but with different signatures which helps provide a nice layered protection level.

 

Only thing I can tell you is that Qihoo uses an advanced heuristic engine - QVM. and KingSoft also uses its own advanced heuristic engine - KVM.

I was finally able to find a page that had a little bit of info, but it seems to have some incorrect information in it (unless I'm missing something).

 

The Chinese version has the Avira engine as well.

At least with Roboscan there's still a Pro version for $10 or so...
