i use private firewall, the PFGui.exe has a lot of disk usage, even if i disable log and process monitor.

    win 7 64 bit.

do you have any recommendation for replace PF?

    thanks!

If you want something simple, windows firewall control, if you want something like PF try Comodo Firewall or OA Free, I prefer comodo firewall, and it's free.

http://www.comodo.com/home/internet-security/free-internet-security.php (do the custom install and discard the AV)

thanks a lot for your input, but i want to know how about the I/O usage of your Firewall? PF generate more I/O activities than anti-virus.

Free? I'd recommend ZA's renowned OS Firewall - its free!

And if you need AV, the free integrated suite with the world-famous Kaspersky engine is hard to beat as a security combo! :thumb:

Sorry about that, I misinterpreted what you were looking for.

Viewing the processes with Process Hacker, jpfsrv.exe bounces between 128, 192, and 256 kB/s I/O Total Rate. jpf.exe uses 0.

    What is Private Firewall using?

    in process hacker PFGui.exe shows 1 Kb/s, some times 78.99 Kb/s I/O Total.

    I wonder why Avast is lower: 32 B/s + 48 B/s
