That's funny: when I've learned that VS was designed for Admin. acc. I thought it was stupid: you can just work in the SUA. But recently IT guys changed my PC to a PC with Win-7 with SUA for me. I asked them to make local admin there and give me login and password for it. They instead made my acc. as admin. I tried to explain them why I want another thing but they "explained" that it's more convenient for me to work under admin acc. :argh:. So VS now perfectly fits to my office PC. :D

I experienced the same problem first time when I installed it, I have like you Pentium Dual Core, 3.0 Ghz. (it's a cheap model costs around 70 Eur) (L2 Cache 2mb) (2gb Ram), but after I tweaked VS a little (use the option for slow PC and put the "little arrow" at the 6st line, my computer with VS on is now at 4-6% CPU usage. With VS off is at 1 - 2%. So you should tweak it well, find the best settings for you and it will work just fine. ( I'm happy with my current settings, I didn't triy to twak it more, but I think that I could lower the CPU usage even more if I set the little arrow at the end). ( I use it with Zemana + Windows Defender from W8 )

    Hey Dan,
During VoodooShield's install it does indeed activate Windows Features which then downloads Net Framework 2.0, 3.0, and 3.5 for a grand total of 470 MBs of install space. I used VoodooShield for a good while and it functioned quite nicely. But the space that Net Framework 2.0, 3.0, and 3.5 took up started bothering me. So, I went searching for just Net Framework 3.5 and found it.

Now, this is when everything went horribly, comically wrong. My plan was to uninstall Net Framework 3.5 from Windows Features and just install 3.5. I did uninstall Net Framework 3.5 and Windows asked to reboot. Upon rebooting back to Desktop I was suddenly inundated with requests from Windows Features, one after the other with no response from me, asking whether I wanted to install Net Framework 3.5 or not. I'm talking many, many requests. I could do nothing. So, I did a hard shutdown just to stop it.

I'm presently on Ubuntu (thank god for CloneZilla). Looking back, it was actually funny. Me trying to open Task Manager so I could kill VoodooShield...with one instance of Windows Features opening after the other (blocking the view of Task Manager)...not being able to do anything...while realizing I should have uninstalled VoodooShield first.

Just goes to show that you can still make an idiot move no matter how computer competent you may feel you are. Oh well, live and learn. :).

    Later...

    Bob

Yes, version 1.09 does not work that well with SUA, but version 2.0 will! Remember, the whole reason VS was developed in the first place we because 90% of users run as administrator. The remaining 10% are largely users that are forced to run a SUA (Corporate computers / Kids Computers, etc.). We will be able to release 2.0 sooner than you think, then everything will work great with SUA and UAC!

Hi, under Settings - Tweaks - Detection Rate. You can adjust VS's engine timings. Thank you!

Bob, very good story! It sounds like some of the things that have happened to me with computers in the past! Actually, some recently ;). But like you said, live and learn... that really is how you learn and become knowledgeable in a certain area.

Can you please use Windows Task Manager to determine the CPU utilization and post a screenshot?

Thank you for posting the screenshots, it is a big help.

I see that VS is running at 0%, but the total is 22%. Are you saying that if you exit out of VS, the total of 22% drops much lower?

I just want to make sure we understand each other ;).

If this is the case, can you please try to isolate which of the processes that are running above 0% is causing the total to climb to 22%?

I went to see my whitelist and IE(internet explorer version 10) shows this warning : "Only secure content is displayed" (this may scare people who surf for the first time on voodoo's website). (I think It's because of the video from bottom of first page, it's the single thing that doesn't show up (is blocked) from what I noticed but the warning activate even in user account). Until now I never recived that warning.

Chrome is my default browser. Run "www.google.com" opens and loads google. .htm and .html are set to open Chrome.

Edit Whitelist still does not work.

That is very odd. From what I remember, you use Sandboxie, right? I played around with SB a while back, it is a great program. From what I remember, can you make it so that SB does not automatically sandbox chrome, and test to see if that fixes it. Basically make your default browser not run sandboxed?

When you click the Edit Whitelist button, all it does is "run https://voodooshield.com/Account/"

And all of the other functions in the Settings window work, right?

Thank you for working with me on this... It is such a simple problem that we should have it fixed by now.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Hopefully within a week or 2. I am working on the CMD issue at the moment. Right now that is the most important issue. If I can fix that soon, I will release that, then work on the other items. Thank you!
