...or change your BOOT order in the BiOS to BOOT from your hard disk first and the CD later in the list.

    Boss... two items.

First of all, my 30% commission at $3.82 doesn't buy too many of the previous coasters I'm generating due to your suggestions... I guess I gotta sell a lot more ;)

...and, I made one of your Build 1096 "coasters" to check out the company's claim above... it DID NOT offer me "Hit any key to continue," it BOOTs right into the AX64 TM RECOVERY media.

My BiOS BOOT list has the CD 1st and HDD 1 (with ACTIVE partition) next. That offer works fine with the WIndows installation CD as well as my copy of the ACTIVE BOOT DISK.

Don't know what the problem might be...

EDIT: HDD 0 has 3-partitions on it... RECOVERY, BOOTable W7 (no System Reserve) Root and a data partition. HDD 1, an SSD, is selected as the BOOT disk.

EDIT 02: HDD 1 connects to an add-in SATA III controller rather than the native mode SATA ports on the mainboard... FYI.

EDIT 03: Also tried it on my AX64 TM tablet-enabled single disk system (3-partition... RECOVERY, W8 Root <no SRP> and DATA)... same result, no offer to LOAD CD, went straight to AX64 RECOVERY media.

OK...that explains that. Same problem here. Looking forward to fix. Thanks Isso:)
@taotoo...I am using a Corsair Survivor for Backups. It shows as Removable and works fine. So maybe all Corsair flash drives will work o_O

    Isso,
I did create the CD with Version 1.2.1096 and there is no message at all. It just causes the boot to take very long then it goes into the recovery program. The only way Windows 8 will start is without the CD in.

    I have a problem with 1.2.0.1096 (Win8 Pro):
If AXTM's automatic hourly backup is active I can't mount a True Crypt volume. The True Crypt error message said something like "volume already in use" (sorry, can't test it right now). The TC volume is a (primary) RAW partition (without a drive letter) on the same HDD as the (primary) NTFS partition with the AXTM folder. If I deactivate automatic backups I can then mount the TC volume and afterwards I can turn automatic backups back on with no problems so far. This didn't happen with 996.

Another restore resulted in a frozen computer – at 0% the restore stopped, this time I waited 2 hours to see if it would continue then lost patience and done a soft boot. The computer eventually booted up but with errors. Doing a restart, started chkdsk the result shown below.

In the end I restored an Macrium image made a few day ago. It seems the honeymoon period is finished, at least for me.

I've just started using AX64 1096, new to this software...It doesn't seem to be merging....I made the initial image and left it on automatic hourly back-ups....I now have 6 separate backups I can see in the AX64 explorer...Is this right?

If it's been running for a day or so, that's about right.

Look at the age of the backups in the BROWSER window... some should be on the hour, some should be six hours old, etc.

I had a similar problem and it turned out that 3rd party software caused the problem. In my case it was AppGuard. If I fail to turn AG off the restore from the browser would freeze up. This occurred even if I set AG to install. The first thing I would suggest is you try doing a restore from within safe mode. If this works you will know that there is a conflict and you will need to figure out with what.

    I hope this helps.

I have a minor suggestion but maybe this is already in the queue.

In the program, you can click to see About & how to collect logs.

    How to collect the logs
    ← 3. Usage Tips
Click on the Top Left corner of the program, select "About..." then click "Collect Logs". This will produce a zip file, please attach it to the email or ticket.

However, when I was first hovering with my mouse pointer over and around the AX64 icon, I got no indication of a hotspot. Usually, the pointer goes from an arrow to a figure shape to indicate a link. I thought I must be in the wrong area but eventually, just clicked the icon.

    Hi Isso.

I've posted a support ticket on the AX64 website regarding my issue with the Backup Browser not showing my snapshots located on my network. I'm posting here to see if anybody else is having issues with their snapshots not showing in the AX64 Backup browser (v1.2.0.1096) when their snapshots are located on the network and a mapped network drive is used. Interestingly, AX64 can still make incremental backups to the drive so it definitely knows where the backup folder is??

EDIT: Should probably mention that I'm running AX64 on a W7 x64 system and the backup folder is located on my WHS2011.

I can report that I have the identical problem - the Backup Browser does not show any backups on my mapped drive (W7 + v1096).

EDIT: However, I can "see" any/all backups on my other mapped drives that were not made with v1096.

I wonder if making AX64 TM a power app in AppGuard would solve this problem. I may have to give that a try when I attempt my first restore.

Same thing for me - the image/snapshot does not show up in the my backup window, however can clearly be seen in explorer in the relevant folder. Using the open backup search function and going to the same folder via network, you can see the backup.

Not sure what I am doing wrong - trying to restore to an earlier snapshot, pressing the restore button and apart from a flash second of a small black dos screen popping up ( too quick to read anything), nothing happens. I am definitely left in the same snapshot as before and there is no reboot either.

Thanks for the comfirmation. However, in my case the last version where the snapshots are visible through the network using the ax64 Backup Browser was with v1.1.996. Upgrading to any version after this renders the snapshots invisble through the AX64 Backup Browser. But like i said, i can still make successful incremental backups with these later versions.

Thanks to you too BT. In my case navigating to my backup location via the "Open Other Backups" icon, i am able to see the folder but upon selection no snapshots are visible in the AX64 Backup Browser.

I am having problems with AXTM freezing. This happens with both 996 & 1096.

Tried an incremental today with 1096 and it freezes when it gets to 94.9% and takes 6 mins to get there. Presses the cancel which closes the window but then Windows says it is not responding so have to force a close down.

Tried again and stopped at the same point.

The first time it said it would take longer because it noticed and external drive. There were non connected but had been in between when AX was last used. Hourly backups is not ticked.

Second time it said it would take longer because the computer had been improperly shutdown - it hadn't - only AX because it froze.

Then tried using Active@ to make a backup but that froze when it went to start the backup.

Checked in task manager and there were two instances of AXTM running neither of which could be closed.

Went to restart Windows and it would not shutdown and had to be forced. On restart it froze on boot up.

Then used AX boot stick to restore the image which worked ok.

Once booted up with the same programs running and ran Active@ for a full backup which completed in 5 mins - much quicker than AX trying to do and incremental.

Anyone else finding this problem. I am using Win 8/64 Pro.

    Hi,
I came across the following error : I connected the external HDD where I save images for computers A, B, and C to computer C, and I wanted to delete the first backup for computer A within AX64TM. I select this baseline backup, right click on it, chose delete and then I get a popup windows named AXTMApp saying : Task read error.

I have uninstalled AX64TM from computer A, I can still manually delete the files but it's better to do it from the GUI so as to avoid erasing the backup for computer B and C.

I am using the latest build, 1.2.0.1096

    Thanks for your help,

    Froggie, Masterblaster,

That's strange. Could you please upload the ISO file somewhere and give me the link? Thank you

    Mike,

I have some ideas why this is happening, we'll fix this in upcoming update (in about 2 weeks).

    Kapiti,

Sorry about it, I understand that my advise is of no use to you, but for others - in such a situation you can always restore via recovery media.

    William,

Thank you for your suggestion, I too think that log collection is a bit confusing. We'll improve this.

    Hi carfal, Grumpa

Hmm, let me check, looks like a bug in the Backup Browser. I'll get back soon.
