It IS a bit ridiculous... it also labels browser cookies as infected as well, which is silly.

Don't bother... too many bugs still... you won't like it better than Avast.

... and therefore Bitdefender Free shouldn't be used by ordinary Joe. Why don't you remove password protected archives from the detection? :doubt:

While I agree it shouldn't label PW-protected archives as infected, I would contend it is excellent for the average Joe, as it requires no configuration, and doesn't require running scans.

Off-topic, but last night I dreamed Bitdefender started quarantining a bunch of system files. Hope that doesn't come true! :D

I want to like this AV but this is the exact reason why i wont ever use it on mine, my families or any client compiters. Even with the exclude option it is still just to much of a gamble in my book.

But didn't Iulika already state it will not quarantine or delete system files?

It supposedly has safeguards and protections in place to prevent this, but who knows, especially when a program (BD in general) is known for it's bugs...

The Logs button in BDF version 1.0.16.1026 is still not working properly. It's not working right now. I wish they could fix this problem.

    Later...

I don't want to jinx myself but this new version has been updating its virus signatures every hour. That's a good thing.

1.0.16.1026 is working fine on my Win7 x64 machine.
No logs button issues. No slow boot issues. No persistent "Service Unresponsive and it need a restart" messages. :thumb:

Has there been any offline installer made for this product yet?

Guys, I installed this crapware on Win XP and my computer just freezed, but it's rather ok when you install low lelvel software -it happens( higher level AV like Kaspersky, Norton even Panda hadn't caused any problem at all and I did installed those numerous times). This crapware evolved even more - I was unable to launch windows in Safe mode - BSOD occured, so had to launch windows in last know good configuration. So proceed at your own risk, guys.

One software didn't work well with your computer, and suddenly it's crapware, not even taking into consideration possible conflicts with other software installed. Installed it with more that 3 computers and all are working fine. No risks involved.

    That's true.

BTW, I still fail to understand why are there offline installers for internet-dependent av products, it defeats it's own purpose.

I quite like the latest update. GUI doesn't pop up anymore, there are exclusions and even though the auto scanning is a bit stupid grinding my 2TB drive all the time, it's pretty ok i guess.

I hope it will be possible to disable auto scanning without having the yellow warning in the GUI then. It's really annoying me...

I have auto-scan disabled. There is yellow in the GUI, but it doesn't prompt me with warning messages or anything like that, so I don't see it as a big deal.

I'm a bit OCD-ish in this regard and i really hate it when GUI is telling me something is disabled. I know it is, i've disabled it myself. So stop showing it to me. Especially for such completelyl non essential features.

On-Access scanning being disabled, great, i like that so it warns you. But On-Demand scanning in auto mode is completely useless and unnecessary.

Switching Auto Scan ON or OFF shouldn't change the GUI into yellow. It should just switch the function ON or OFF and that should be it. It's a non essential feature and as such it shouldn't come with a yellow warning when disabled.

Showing a yellow warning in the GUI icon for something silly like that could also be confusing if there happens to also be another issue that needs your attention and you're ignoring it because you think it's just the Auto Scan warning...
