Does a new version require creating anew our rescue thumbdrives or CDs?

I like to use Shadow Defender to freeze my system partition all-the-time (ie. on boot), and currently use Image For Windows for my imaging needs.

I'm familiar with the way AX64TM works, but can anyone using AX64TM and Shadow Defender tell me what issues there are, and how you use them together ?

    Thanks in advance!

You can't use them together at all.

Not a big deal Isso but thank you. Please do not spend time on this as I am able to recover individual files if need be via mounting the snap as a virtual drive. I suspect there are more important areas for you to spend time on.

By the way, thanks for the new release, lots of nice tweaks in this one.

Issues with SD were first reported by The Shadow in Post 1841. Incompatibility between AX64 and SD is hard to take for those of us who value the benefits of both apps! :(

You can get better results/protection than SD provides using AX64 in combination with AppGuard and Zemana Antilogger. AppGuard will prevent any program from installing on your PC and AntiLogger will prevent anything being copied and sent to a 2nd party. Of course AX64 will quickly revert the system if nec.

I too was unhappy about not being able to use SD along side AX64 as it was an important security tool on my PC for years but I have become quite comfortable with the above setup (along with ESET).

Isso, I have figured out what the problem with copying files from AX64 on my XP machine is/was.

I am using an Explorer replacement called XYplorer and as mentioned I was not able to paste copied files I just tried using Win Explorer instead and the file pasted without issue so somehow the problem is with XYplorer.

Its a bit odd as I have XYplorer on my Win 7 PC too and I have no issue copying from AX64 and pasting into XYplorer on that machine.

PS: I was surprised to see in the change log that AX64 will now not do merges when the PC is in use. I was under the impression that this would have to wait for some future release. Thanks for getting it in this one. You and your team are too much. Thank you once again for your hard work and excellent program.

One more thing, would it be a good idea to remake the recovery disk or is the one created with the previous version OK given the changes to the program?

    Hi Isso,

I've not made any manual backups, other than the baseline. I don't think the issue is last 7 days vs last week, as the backups get merged after 3 days regardless of the day of the week. I've sent the screenshots via email.

    Hi Isso

Firstly congratulations on the new release.

Don't think that logs are appropriate as I was asking why the increase in time when the state of the external drive is discovered during backup. Must be something expected since you throw up a message to that effect.

But I did want to know what happens on restore when the state of the drive is contrary to the backup state.

Probably better if I try the new version and see if it is the same.

    Hi Isso,

Just down loaded the new version and can confirm back up and restore is working fine from within windows on my 64 bit windows 7 system, have not tried a restore from the recovery media, but I am still getting merge errors, c1000103 and c0ffffff when I try and delete old snapshots. I will try creating a new baseline and see if that solves the problem, thanks.

    Hi ISSO,
Just to say i downloaded the latest version of time machine as i have GPT partitions, everything works ok,apart from it will not recover computer, when you select start restore the time machine window closes then a Dos window appears then closes, nothing else happens.
Using Windows 8 64bit if that helps.

By the way, don't rely on the dates you see in Windows Explorer. Those are not a true representation of the date/time the backup represents. Look at the date/time within the backup browser.

Your change log is very nicely done. As a former Rollback user, you never expected to see any kind of change log and certainly not one this extensive. Great job.

Do we need to burn a new boot disc with this version?

I had a slightly different but possibly related issue on a Win 7 64 bit PC.

In my case the dos window would open and then the PC would freeze with the window open. The only thing I could do at this point was a forced power off. The problem turned out to be a program called AppGuard. If I turn off AppGuard before beginning the restore things go as expected. Are you running any 3rd party apps that could be affecting things in this way? If so you might want to try turning them off and see if this helps. In fact you may want to try doing a restore from within safe mode just to see if it makes a diff. If you can do it from within safe mode then you will know that some app on the PC is causing the problem.

This is just by going on the dates in the backup browser. Thanks for the info though, as I noticed the dates in explorer didn't correlate and wondered if it was connected with the problem.

Really glad I invested in this. Glad its a backup software that is quick. Had a issue yesterday (that I caused) which make windows not boot. Under 10 mins with the CD recovery AXTM did it job and my PC is back to normal.

While it is a great product I am still confused about the licence. It is a yearly , version or lifetime? I can't seem to find out.
