I have 3.2.1.29578 installed but it now says Beta on the Baidu Antivirus 2013 in the top left hand corner. Is anyone else seeing this or am I just going crazy?
For some reason 3.4.1 has been pulled from the website - maybe for the update issue. I downloaded and installed 3.2.1 right now and the update works fine.
Yes mine says beta also, believe all the versions before 3.4 were betas. I had installed all the 3.4 versions which did not say beta but had the no update problem. As has been noted on this forum even the Baidu website where you can download the "latest" version has scaled back to the 3.2.1 as they have apparantly felt the need to modify before providing to us.

Yay! Finally! I didn't uninstall the older version, just installed over it. Seems to be working fine, so I guess it's OK to do this. I haven't been so excited over an AV in a long time. I'm tired of drilling down 7 pages deep in complicated GUI's to do simple tasks. Unlike the current crop of AV's, Baidu is simple, colorful, and dare I say likable.
Why do they give 2 different buttons "Download" and "Download Beta" on their site to the same installer? Negligence?
I've been averse to Chinese software, but this program, Kingsoft, and Qihoo have garnered so much praise (and no stories of backdoors being open or anything), that I may recommend it, but I have a few questions: 1. What engines does it us as of the most recent version? 2. Any known bugs to keep it from being recommended? 3. Has there been any suspicious network activity made by it?
11-6-2013 latest antivirus definitions update? someone have this to? i have the latest program version installed
Hi Pablo, Are you saying this latest version is not updating ? I really like Baidu AV but I have to admit I ditched it in favour of Qihoo 360 until they (Baidu) sort out a few of the Baidu AV problems - particularly the update issue. If they sorted that out I would probably go back to Baidu. Incidentally, Q360 has no update problems and seems almost as light as Baidu.
Hi Mate Yeah sorry i mean that updating issue, pff bad english i have haha date of my last succesful update is from 11-6 were now 9 days further and still no update of definations, how hard can it be to fix this
Hi, Thanks. I totally Agree with you. Baidu obviously know that this is now turning into a long term problem, so why don't they JUST GET IT SORTED. It is extremely frustrating. Someone has already asked about some of the issues in their forum, which Baidu are not quick to answer but today they did, (but it still doesn't help.) http://forum.security.baidu.co.th/bbs/topic/100346/1/
Hi guys, here is an italian new member. I'm the "anonymous" who wrote this message on the baidu forum. i have installed q360 too, just like ghodgson. yes, update are frequent but a little slow, and it's a little heavier (when idle, 60mb ram against 30 mb of baidu). i'm very sad because for my old computer (PIV 1.50mhz, 1gb sdram) baidu was something like a miracle. however i keep baidu on an old notebook, just to see what happens... i think baidu should be clear and tell us not to expect regular virus definitions updates (nor in the "next version") if they've decided to focus on cloud. after all, if avira engine is disabled by default, that shoud indicate something...
Memory use has nothing to do with lightness. CPU and disk usage are what contribute to lightness. I too have found Baidu to be lighter - because of less CPU usage.
@Brandonn2010 the problem is that avira engine does not recieve periodical update. however, for an old computer i think baidu is one of the best choiches. @roger_m i partially agree. if you have 4gb of ram, sure, it doesn't matter; but if you have an old computer you can taste the difference.
Still using the older "beta" version, 3.2.1.29578 and updating regularly yet. I had tried both the newer versions after they came out and found the updating problem also. Saw a post here at Wilders that said one of the older versions was still working so went back to it a couple weeks ago and have not been disappointed. I looked high and low for this version but their own website gave me this when I tried to download the latest version. Not sure what they are giving you now. I won't install any new version until it has been out a week or two and shows it updates. But yes as everyone else barely know there is an antivirus working in the background, very nice.
