    I am having Certificate issues, running XP-home SP3 Dutch with IE 8, on the "new ESET forum" http://forum.eset.com/
    I happen to know that there is a thread there about it, but I cannot read it.
    Maybe I am trying to block too much at that forum.
    BTW, about that forum: 1. I do not like it at all (!), 2. I consider it inferior and 3. I consider it far and far less secure than the Wilders Security Forums.

    Viewing sites via the restricted sites zone, an aging operating system, added lines to your Hosts file, may all contribute to your not being able to view said post.

    Without knowing what the thread is and|or without you telling us was your issues is, we are remiss in helping you.

    Well, well, well, siljaline. Of all people you are telling me that I have an aging operating system, as if I didn't know that. That was so low and mean from you, and you do know so very well why it is. It's disgusting.

    See:New Eset Security Forum.
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=348963

    As to an aging operating system and | or poorly configured Browser settings, these all contribute to the ability to adjust to a new forum environment that requires adjusted or lowered security settings.

    I cannot speak for ESET as to the so-called security issues that you have seemingly encountered.

    The new ESET Forum is open for business, many have been invited as I see many from Wilders actively posting there. Many are probably posting from XP O/S and not only just yourself.

    I am not familiar with any security concerns expressed with regards to the new Forum that have not been already addressed and fixed.

    ESET would have to address your concerns.

    Dear stapp,
    Thank you very much for that info and screenshot. Much appreciated! :thumb:

    (I had a screenshot of the cert. error message available but it was in Dutch and decided not to post it; maybe I should have)

    =====

    PS-1:
    One wonders why an ESET mod didn't post that info here too.

    PS-2:
    One wonders whether the info from Aryeh here about the "new forum" is still correct. Is it http://forum.eset.com/ or https://forum.eset.com/ ?

    (anyway, I don't have time now to look further at it these days; have to take care elsewhere of a friend going to and coming back from Hospital)

    I am seeing the same thing under IE8, XP3. Switched to Firefox V21 and the certificate error does not come up.

    Hey Kent,
    Thanks my dear old friend.

    =====

    I really have my doubts about whether it is really resolved. Below will come more about that. I have also other remarks to make about the whole issue.

    First remark I would like to make:

    I really do think that the following post at the "new ESET forum" should really have been posted here too:

    https://forum.eset.com/topic/355-forumesetcom-moving-to-ssl/

    The statement by Aryeh Goretsky about the link in
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=346999
    is simply not correct anymore and there should have been made a notification about that here by an ESET mod.

    I have my doubts about allowing third party videos and images on the "new ESET forum" (if I am reading it right). That is so much better handled here at Wilders: it is not allowed!

    Issue is resolved as it was an IPBoard issue and nothing related to ESET. You may continue at the new Forum, * NOT HERE * as it does not pertain to Wilders. :cautious:

    Queries regarding the new Forum format and other information are available en-masse there and here. I trust a wily old Wilders Vet you'll be able to find these.

    @Mods - suggest thread lock as topic does not relate to Wilders.

    As I said, here is more about that certificate issue.
    I have my doubts about that it was resolved, maybe depending on how you look at it and which OS c.q. Windows version you use.

    I will give several screenshots from the Dutch version of XP-home SP3, using IE8.

    I go to the https site :

    Eset_forum_2013_06_19_01.gif

    So, there is a security issue with the certification.

    Windows (XP-home SP3 Dutch, using IE8, in my case) gives a very clear warning about that Certificate.
    Unfortunately I had problems with making a screenshot of that warning; I couldn't make it. Sorry about that.

    As far as I can tell that Certificate has to be imported manually (at least on my system).

    If I'm right about this all, it looks to me that Foneil forgot to give very clear info about:

    1. why this certificate can be trusted;

    and

    2. if it can be trusted, he forgot to give very clear step-by-step instructions how to do that.

    Flushing your DNS helps as well and your IE Cache.

    Flushed my dnscache, switched to an https: bookmark cleared my IE files. I then restarted IE8. The certificate problem still comes up under IE8.

    There is a problem with this website's security certificate.
