no please or thank you, and is if by magic my prevx install has disappeared (half way through it's license), only to be replaced by a failed install of webroot. Seriously unimpressed. Is there a manual uninstall "how to" available, as the uninstaller doesn't work (as much as the installed programme doesn't work).
Not impressed either. Today is have had around 400 phone calls & emails from concerned customers that their security has gone. Thanks for nothing Webroot!
Sorry guys that some of you are having issues the best thing to do is Submit a Support Ticket and they will fix things up for you. Also see here at the Webroot Community Forums: Prevx Migration to WSA-AV Regards, TH
Hi Flake, sorry to hear the upgrade from Prevx 3.0 didn't go well. There are some manual uninstall instructions here might help: http://community.webroot.com/t5/Web...ntrol-Panel-and-Start/ta-p/34688#.UXw_tspKuaE Some earlier info frrom PrevxHelp (Dev) here: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=2202313&postcount=4 Here is a new download of WSA: http://anywhere.webrootcloudav.com/zerol/wsainstall.exe If you need to convert your Prevx license key/s from Support: https://detail.webrootanywhere.com/servicewelcome.asp? Hope you will give SecureAnywhere (Prevx 4) a chance to see how much an improved version of Prevx it actually is. edit: Thanks TH...never saw you
Sorry to hear about the difficulties you've experienced. We've migrated several hundred thousand customers already without incident over the last few weeks but are watching anything new as it comes in very closely. If you could please write into our support inbox as the posters here have outlined, they will help get you squared away with a working build and hopefully be able to diagnose what went wrong. Please let me know if you have any questions!
My question is why it's doing all this in the background, without even a pop up to say "do you want to upgrade" or even "you will be upgraded". for a niche security tool that many have specifically sought out it's rather bad form to do this behind the scenes update nonsense. Perhaps Id rather continue running the legacy version of prevx3 until the end of my two year license? I don't have a choice, which for a security tool is unacceptable.
Thanks for the info Dermot, much appreciated. However, without wishing to sound belligerent I wish Webroot had given me the chance to say no thanks.
Flake, Prevx already updated automatically to newer versions of Prevx as they became available and would continue to do so even across major versions. So Prevx 2 auto-updated to Prevx 3, and now Prevx 3 auto-updated to Prevx 4, which happens to be under the Webroot name banner but otherwise is written wholly by the Prevx coders. Even the existing use of the old database is limited in capability since the old system worked on a limited set of data compared to Prevx 4. Also noteworthy is the fact that you really couldn't continue to use the old version until the end of your subscription, since the database that drives it will be going away. So you got the exact same thing as if you were moving from Prevx 2 to Prevx 3, which happened automagically. Just now it's Prevx 4 by Webroot but not really by Webroot since Webroot just provided resources for the Prevx team to use.
