I wonder why there's no Avira engine though.

It seems like the program does not check for updates very often. The log says it checked 6 hours ago when I first booted my machine, and has not checked since.

Anyone else still on 6/11 for update? Hope this isn't an issue like Baidu.

I will be trying this soon, looks like a promising antivirus, and may be a keeper here if it is as light as others have found.

As has been posted here this is not a new AV, for example it was first discussed at Wilders in December of 09. I've been hoping to see an English version for some time.

Qihoo hope to become the world's biggest security company.
Probably an unrealistic goal, but no harm in trying I guess.

Looks interesting. From what I've found it does a decent job of protecting.

Is the proactive defense a kind of HIPS?

Odd it didn't alert for.me at first test. Likely something i missed.

Has anyone who uses Shadow Defender seen the same premessage that it demands on install to uninstall it?

    Through advertising revenue.
They have a massive user base for their security products:

Maybe they're getting more users than they expected and are having server problems?

That's unrealistic. Probably chinese people are not too paranoid. I don't see anywhere in the documentation of this product nor Baidu (another chinese antivirus) the term 'zero-day', which is over-rated and commonly abused by the 'big players' when upselling their antivirus software.

Now I got the 13th database as well.
But 1 update in 2 days?
Also, when I check for updates manually, I get this message:
    Untitled.jpg
I have to try again several times before it goes through successfully. My internet connection's fine.

360 Qihoo is the current owner of Malware Defender...so perhaps some part of MD's technology has been implemented into 360 IS?
    ---------------
    edit:
maybe the same reason are responsible for calling that app as IS...MD is controlling trying of outgoing connection and port listening so similar (or the same) solution in 360 IS could give us some simple firewall?
