G'day Guys I'm currently using ZAPro, but I'm thinking of changing to LnS for reasons already discussed in these forums. However, I'm a bit concerned that configuration concenring my LAN setup behind my Firewall/router (DI604). ZA workes fine behind the D-Link and if I have to fix a problem with network configuration, ZA detects the "new" network and adds it to its "trusted" zone. Does LnS require a fair degree of firewall knowledge to configure a LAN setup in this scenario? Any advice much appreciated. BTW, I don't mind a little tweaking to set things up, but the more it works straight from the setup, the happier I am, lazy sod I know
Hi Whynot, yes Look'n'Stop requires a little tweaking from your side, you have to manually add at least one rule to allow yours LAN computers (either by their IP or better by their MAC address). In one rule you can add two IP or MAC address, or one IP range (excluding your router to avoid to not filter the traffic coming from the Internet). regards, gkweb.
Thanks gkweb, I could manage that I think - if not I s'pose I'll just have to keep pestering the experts for advice
Or, instead of one "anything goes" rule, create whatever specific rule(s) you need for whatever LAN functionality you use. For example, I use Miranda IM with a LAN protocol plug-in, and I share printers and files. So, I have two rules in LNS to allow just those things. I don't allow anything else. This may or not make sense for you, depending on your needs and configuration.
