Also, how does their url filter work? Is it just a scanner or does it have a blacklist of known malicious domains (network shield)?

I tested 15 malware posted by spywar on malwaretips. I did rightclick scan. It detected total 13, 2 were detected as heuristics by QVM, so may be QVM is their suspicious/heur engine.

    Bigger samples test little later.

Yes, but they can get away with using a similar interface to a competitor without getting sued for copyright all the time. And it adds more simplicity for users. :)

778 malware by Tommy on malwaretips.
    736/778 [RightClick Scan]

QVM detects quite a few malware, why its by default disabled in RT?

    Link Test

    It is confusing.
    I tested 20 links from malwareblacklist & malc0de.
For only 1 link a popup appeared "downloaded file is scanned" then another pop appeared "malware detected". Dont know why for other downloaded files this popup didn't appeared?
For only 2 links in address bar 360safe something appeared`but nothing on the page & the file downloaded but was detected after download completed.
For one file a popup appeared "downloading file is malware infected"

QVM by default is disabled in RT but I got 2 detections as QVM something?

The test was done on real system XP SP3 & Windows Firewall.

    Thank You PAULBB

That worked. Install went smooth as silk but something disturbed me at the very start. "you installed shadow defender blah blah would you like to uninstall now"? What the crap gives and why SD of all apps? My first con right off the top before even getting started. Dunno about that devil. lol

Anyway, in no mood to draw SD out of my lineup so went into shadow mode then installed 360 AV.

I done this completely off-line so as to test it's raw state out-of-the-box. Dunno if a reboot is needed first in order to fully energize file and especially registry protection but it picked up samples i had and immediately moved on those
However a simple test i always use on any security ware by just manually creating a new registry value by hand went totally ignored. Now why is it even before reboot in it's raw incomplete state it alerted to some of file samples correctly but totally went numb on writing to the run key in my registry.

Tomorrow when i have active net connection on it i wanna fully update it after a reboot and put it thru some actions.

It's scan speed is impressive to me and for someone who is always frowned on AV's due to taking over snappy performance for their sluggish embedding process, this one doesn't seem to suffer from that disability. In fact besides it's liteness on this Windows 8, the nice G,UI and settings section as well as alert configs actually raise my confidence that this could be a turning point for satisfaction in an AV.

Just wonder how the detections will pan out and the issue with registry protection i hope was just a fluke.

I asked this on their facebook page.this is what they said: Currently we only set our product as anti-virus, however when we confirm our capabilities as anti-spyware and unwanted software protection, we will add those categories.

Exactly. China doesn't have insane copyright laws like the US.

Viruses represent almost nothing today :D ... In fact all security programs should rename their "Anti Virus" to "Anti Malware".

The BitDefender engine does detect spyware and adware.

Well that pretty well sums up why my very elementary manual registry write test fell totally silent. The Proactive Defense is currently either nonexistent or shutoff.

They really shouldn't ignore such an important branch of system security being it is an AV. Agree as pointed out that anti-malware is every bit a genuine and legitimate concern which should be equally addressed at least in HIPS coverage.

It does. I just tried to install RelevantKnowledge and 360 Internet Security detected and blocked it.

Proactive Defense does work in some instances. Webcam protection works, and I was alerted about a dll change when trying to install a game.

Yea, i run Antitest on it and it did disable the HD webcam on the laptop but not simple keylogging. It puked horribly on registry tampering though.

You have to imagine how exciting it might be if this Triple engine AV also made effective use of the integrated Proactive Defense in a manner that allowed manually adding registry branch keys and values monitoring.

Guess we'll have to wait and see if they're up to fully activating those features or not.

It's still nice and liteweight for an AV though.

I noticed the same. They need to modify that page to tell you something was blocked.

I do not know if you noticed that the engine Bitdefender suffers delays in updates compared with Bitdefender or Emsisoft.

I found dedection rate is good but it crashed many times when removing malware (after on-demand scan)
    About Engines;

1-We cant disable 360 cloud engine
    2-We can disable bitdefender&qvm engine
3-When i disable qvm engine, dedection rate didint change (Scanner still show HEUR/Malware.QVM.20.Gen like malware name)
4-When i disable bitdefender, dedection rate is lover (But little in my test.)
